The battery is only as clean as its energy source. For now, the only way to make our electric cars green is to paint them green, unless you live in Denmark or California or a few others places... The energy mix above is the average for U.S. It might still be cleaner than pure burning of gasoline, but we have a long ways to go to clean up our act.
How do we move rapidly from 1% solar and wind energy in the U.S. to 50%? To 100%? Is this just a fantasy? One of the nation’s leading technology entrepreneurs, Jack Hidary, co-founder of SmartTransportation.org and chairman of Americans for CleanEnergy.org, explained at Bioneers 2009 what we have to do politically, economically and socially to realize that necessary revolution. In this slide he talks about the power of the people. Explains how we can use our 2 to 6 degrees of separation to influence change that will save the planet from 2 to 6 degrees of average temperature change. If you believe in chaos theory, you can influence your friends on Facebook (and other social networks) and friends of friends and friends of friends of friends with good ideas, and have a big impact. Most of the 300 million plus on Facebook are within 4 degrees of separation, and there are many "super-connectors" with 500+ "friends" that can help get the good word out too. We all just have to search and discover our networks and reach out and touch each other...
