To the north is the 220ft high tower of the National Wallace Monument commemorating Scotland’s great hero William Wallace, played by Mel Gibson in the Oscar-winning movie Braveheart. From the castle you can look down over the scene of Wallace’s greatest triumph, the battle of Stirling Bridge, where he defeated the English army in 1297. To the south is Bannockburn where, in 1314, the great Scottish warrior-king Robert the Bruce defeated the English army of Edward II. The battle was fought for possession of Stirling Castle but eventually led to a far greater prize for Scotland – the restoration of independence. It’s an area alive with history and you stop at the castle to give you time to soak up the history and heritage of this great site.

After three years of waiting, this year we were able to return to Siena for this magnificent event and it lived up to all our expectations. Excitement, drama, spectacle. Delay due to rain but it ended with a perfect race - for Leocorno at least. In between the events in Siena we enjoyed some easy hikes in the Tuscan countryside and a fun cooking class.

The 100km end to end hike on this iconic trail from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles. Beautiful weather despite a few showers. Lots of koalas, wallabies, kangaroos and a few snakes too.
Fabulous week of hiking on the Great South West Walk and then on the Grampians Peaks Trail. We stayed in Portland before moving to Dunkeld where we stayed at Mount Sturgeon Homestead and Cottages, part of the Royal Mail Hotel. Dinner in Wickens on the final evening. Fabulous hiking and a wonderful group of people

Our inaugural tour on the Island of Sardinia. Stunning hiking in the mountainous interior where we experienced a genuine welcome from the locals. Two beautiful hotels with wonderful swimming pools. Lots of delicious meals discovering the specialities of Sardinia.
Autumn hiking in north east Victoria. Gorgeous colours, a bit of rain but some great views too. Delicious dinners at Provenance and The Empire and picnics matched to a selection of fabulous Beechworth wines, including lots of Nebbiolo - our favourite!

The Hermitage is a fantastic woodland walk leading up to the Black Linn Falls where the River Braan cascades into a narrow gorge. Surrounded by some of Scotland's tallest trees and changing spectacularly in appearance throughout the seasons it's a great place at any time of year. You may even have the chance to see the spectacular sight of Salmon attempting to leap up the falls and on towards their spawning grounds.
