Found these on a rock in Wales, they initially looked like small black dots, decided to investigate and was amazed to find these tiny globular Springtails, easily the smallest I have found :)
I think this may be Sminthurinus niger, will try for a reversed lens shot next time I find one of these, really hard to get a sharp focus on these :)
I think I'm done with large quilts. I've taken more interest in small projects lately. This top is a machine-pieced railfence and has been donated to a charity. It measures approximately 64" square.
Baker County Fair and Panhandle Rodeo Labor Day Weekend in Halfway Oregon.
Classic small town Americana in the town of Halfway Oregon along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, with a parade, carnival, and rodeo. Baker County is home to more than 2 dozen Oregon Century Farms and Ranches, and agriculture is still an important part of the local culture. The Baker County Fair in Halfway is actually one of two Baker County Fairs celebrating this rich agricultural heritage. Always Labor Day Weekend, , the fair is all about farming, agriculture, and 4H, offering visitors a glimpse of rural Americana and of course, great rodeo action.

MT05 night of 30-31st March 2021. 30th of March had been very warm with record March daytime temperatures of around 22*C or more. The previous moth trap sessions had been spartan affairs with cold, wind and worse, rain showers but this time conditions were good and I felt hopeful. There was a clear sky and a big moon later in the night . When I scrambled out of bed and descended to my bottom patio all was dry and the air still and not too cool. In the event the catch was not brilliant but it was nice to see my first Early Grey of 2021 amongst the LBJs that I always find difficult to ID. I was surprised to find my first big black beetle , a handsome Queen that had "come out" to pose for me along with a set of Green lacewings and several Chironomids?, specimens of which I retained for ID by recoders who know about those sort of critturs.
