Kingfisher from Ron Barker Hide at WWT Martin Mere

This is an Altamira Oriole. He looks pretty similar to the hooded oriole, but his face mask is a different shape. Also, he has and orange bar on his wing. In the U.S., they can only be found in the southern-most tip of TX. Such a beauty to see. (Yes, another lifer for me)

My fave photo at the moment.

:)

The after photo in comments

I'm still working my way through my Kauai photos...haven't had time to process all but the one (sunrise shot) so far. So here is one from the archives.

I got lucky again with that one hummingbird buzzing by the other!

Winner of the third ever flickr Seasonal Smackdown!

This photo went up against this photo (a seriously awesome photo, btw - you should check it out - really!), by Michelle TX.

Rikishi vs. Chris Benoit at the WWF King of the Ring at the Fleet Center in Boston, MA in 2000 - WWE. Mr. Benoit was disqualified after the ref acually saw him hit Rikishi with the steel chair (pictured).

This is from our vacation in Cyprus last month.

Taken in Coral Bay, close to Paphos, as the day was getting late.

Most of the beachgoers had retired to their hotels, but these young folks just couldn't get enough of the breakers and the attempts at body-surfing.

Time for the Fourth Ever flickr Seasonal Smackdown!!!

Here's how it works... this photo, the lovely backlit daffodils looming over you, the viewer, competed with this photo, barely pulled out a very narrow win. Thanks, Lyle, for an awesome run, and a tremendous photo!

Voting for this week's Smackdown is now over! Thanks to everyone for participating!

A pregnant, stray dog was left abandoned and looking for a place to have her puppies, so I took her in.

Welcome, you have entered the "little m:) - Gary Randall Waterfall Wednesday Smackdown".

Please visit little m:)'s waterfall and then make a choice by leaving a comment on the photo of your choice saying that it's your choice.

Now, I don't expect all you guys to go off and vote for the cute little blond girl, just because she's a cute little blond girl. Nor would I want you to choose my waterfall just because

I'm buying a beer for everyone that chooses my photo. That just wouldn't be fair. ; )

Choose wisely, choose fairly, choose mine.

Thank you. : )

This was snapped just before the cop showed up and ruined the day. I liked how it came out.

looks better when you enlarge it I think.

Smackdown! Pre-show. You can see the seats filling up. Fun night, great main event.

Here are some of the cast members for my next story! This one is a bit ambitious and I'm not sure I can pull it off but I am going to give it my best effort!

Piñata fun time at a birthday party today for my nephew ... with the Lego theme. This poor candy filled container made it through the younger kids okay, but took a beating once the bigger ones got a hold of the stick.

Here is the moment of destruction captured ... much more challenging capture than all my long exposure landscapes but together :)))

Dark basement, yelling kids, and swinging wooden sticks ...

Bounced the flash off the basement wall here, and increased the ISO to 3200 ... not a problem for the Canon 5DMIII. The details even in the shadows is amazing when viewed full size.

In this shot I was lucky to snap at the exact moment the rope and hook came undone in the capture. Ohhh the poor Lego ;) Happy to report the Lego missed me as it went flying through the air there in the basement.

These two are so entertaining...

I watched these two spiders duke it out for a long, long time...probably about nine rounds. On the left we have the champion, "Big Boy" Archie Arachnid, who far outweighs his opponent and specializes in short, jabbing uppercuts. On the right we have the challenger for the web, Slim Pickens, a scrappy contender who -- despite his frequent flurries of quick jabs -- is knocked out of the ring time after time. Yet he keeps coming back for more.
