This picture was in the Lincoln Journal Star on July 13th 2008 in the Hometown Nebraska section (Page 4c), written by Jack McKee. The title: O Street's ever-changing course through history. This photo looks east on O street from about 8th street at the razing of the 1894 viaduct over the railroad yards before construction of the Harris Overpass, which now has met the same fate and is being replaced with the third bridge over Lincoln's rail yard.
I've scanned the article and located it Here.
This is a 7 meg png file so it may take awhile to load.
Also, there's a larger version of the scanned photo from the paper Here
This image/pun occurred to me last weekend and, against my better judgement, I couldn't get rid of it.

Firefox-based Social Browser Flock Launches
Posted by CowboyNeal on Thursday October 20, @07:32PM
from the hitting-the-streets dept.
The Internet Mozilla Software
daria42 writes "The much-hyped Flock, a new browser based on Mozilla Firefox and integrating features like RSS feeds, blogging tools, the del.icio.us social bookmarking and Flickr photo sharing services has just launched a public developer preview to the world. Flock is being driven by a team of developers being led by Bart Decrem, a well-known open source developer who co-founded the ill-fated Eazel project back in 1999 and has been involved with both the Mozilla and GNOME foundations. On his blog this week he says Flock won't be forking the Firefox codebase."

I think someone forgot to take the layout text before publishing this.
On the other hand, it's a little funnier than "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..."
(Seen on Slashdot.)
Apple Store Soho Thursday, 6/28 11:01 a.m. ....not a bad line....but I think last night's soaking had to be a reality check for anyone in the que. (Limit 2 per customer, ebayers). At least the folks in front are supporting some children's charity.
Many of AT&T's owned and operated stores will be carrying the phone too. I don't think I've seen any lines there just yet. Yes, I'll be getting one, but probably not tomorrow. I do make my living off the web and such. And my 3-year-old razr's display is completely broke, so I can't make or read text messages...or call anyone whose number I have forgotten. - for that I still pay over $45 per month.
There's a point of convergence in the Jan 2006 Alexa Traffic Rankings of Digg.com, Slashdot.org and del.icio.us. Remember that each of them originated at different points in time, notable by the diverse traffic rankings at the start of 2005. Have we reached a saturation point in the number of social web users? Read on...
emmett preparing for his linux.com/ live! presentation on kernel modules, which was attended by two guys from the university of maryland college park lug and five people on irc who joined the channel and never said anything. that's pretty much what the whole show was like the first morning; hackers are not early rising people. it picked up as the day went on, and one of the show planners who stopped by said that the first day's always like that; the crowds start getting thicker on the second day.
they had a bunch of these live! events in san jose, and they were fun. it's like what slashdot did in new york, broadcasting stuff like the jon katz interview over an mp3 stream, with people listening at home (well, ok, work) and submitting questions for him over irc. l.c's events are more technical, so they not only let the people who can't make it to the show join in the fun, but give them a chance to teach as well.
Like many others before it, my Xbox 360 got the red ring of death a couple weeks ago. I felt strangely sad as I boxed it up to be shipped back to Microsoft for repairs.
It arrived there yesterday, just in time for me to read this somewhat alarming story on Slashdot regarding Microsoft's crippling DRM on the 360:
games.slashdot.org/games/08/02/14/1627245.shtml
I hope these problems don't affect me, and that Microsoft will reconsider its approach to DRM on what is otherwise a system I am happy to own (when it works).
debian gnu/hurd K14.
switched to windowmaker because fluxbox hangs when exiting. you can see the crippled Dillo browser lookin' at slashdot.org and an aterm in the background.
below the vmware player window you can glimpse xchat on the freenode #hurd channel, I was having fun joking with Marcus Brinkmann (Hurd lead developer) about futurama relevance in philosophy.

...today I'm finally taking the time to re-install my (rather famous) fileserver...
that's this one:
a 'new' fileserver (blogpost on my page)
...an AMD Opteron 146 on which I'm installing OpenBSD/AMD64 and I'm actually using my own how-to for this :-)

I almost forgot about it! One year ago today I found Flickr (I think from an artlcle on slashdot?). Anyway, am I ever glad I did, I've met some great people through here, and gotten closer to others through sharing pictures. Not to mention all the great photographers I've been exposed to! Thanks to everyone who enjoys my pictures, and I hope I can continue improving over the next year! :)
Although this was a sunset, I prefer to think of it as a sunrise. For lots of reasons. :)
Left: We installed Mint at the tail end of a huge traffic spike from being on Slashdot, Joystiq, Digg, and other huge sites. Ugly ol' awstats was showing nearly 90,000 hits on some of those days. We'll probably be back up there when Mother 3 is released :D
Right: I love the www.starmen.net kids. 55.6% of them don't use IE 6, and that's a beautiful thing. The best part is that they've been that way for years. What a group!
I was browsing Slashdot as usual when my eyes stumbled on this.
Please forgive me for having suspicion that it's deliberately done by
the Slashdot admins.
My stomach still hurts from trying to hold the laughter :D
The tag shown (keeplucasawayfromit) doesn't help :D
Could be a bad sign for the show. Watch out, Lucas !
