Our dear friend Horst (*hb19) passed away on May 12th. I dedicate this photo to his sweet memory. We were all delighted by his SKYplay set, and when I went out to shoot something similar in tribute, I chose the heart-shaped leaf of my weeping redbud, and as I held it up to the sky, there was a heart-shaped cloud. That could not have been just a coincidence.

Horst was a cherished Flickr friend, always offering his thoughtful, supportive comments to so many of us, and sharing with us the world and family he loved so deeply. My heart goes out to them. May they be comforted in knowing how much Horst was valued here in our Flickr community.

Mother Nature really is amazing. First came an onslaught of aphids, then came the ladybugs that ate the aphids, and then came the next generation of ladybugs. This larva was about a half-inch long and didn't stop moving, so I apologize for the lack of clarity.

This female* green frog lives in a little pond at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, where it and its buddies seem to have become accustomed to visitors because this one let me get quite close for this shot.

*It's a female because the tympanum is not larger than the eye. In the above link is a photo of a male green frog, and you can see the difference.

EDIT: April 2011--This is more like the southern type of R. clamitans, namely the Bronze frog (R.c. clamitans). Notice her bright green upper lip.

I'll try to do some visiting today, but I'm working on a project with a deadline, and it's tough going. But if I don't share some of my photos, they'll just sit on my hard drive, and that would be silly, right?

This is one of the few poppy anemones that bloomed this spring. I'm hoping for more next year.

I think the most wonderful part of this sunset was the cloud formation in the centre, it seems to have shadows that look like a line of trees :)

Until this sighting, red-headed woodpeckers have come to my yard just three times since 1995. After I took this shot, I've had several more visits, but I've not been able to get any closer than this distant view through my screen door (which is white but came out charcoal here).

In the background is my new recumbent evergreen garden part of my garden.
