While staying in Berchtesgaden we also visited the small town of Hallstatt in Austria, only 1 1/2 hours drive away.
It's scenic location on Lake Hallstatt is well known.
While we did not have the best weather when we were there, it still was worth the trip.

Entre Pévèle et Mélantois près de Lille les marais de Bonance renaissent sur 50 hectares. Des marais qui, au fil des ans, avaient quasiment disparu avec le comblement naturel, la construction de l'autoroute A23 qui coupe le marais en deux, le remblais artificiel au moment de la guerre. Le site a été aménagé, il aura nécessité une année de travaux.

El castillo de Burgalimar (del árabe Burj al-Hamma, 'torre de los Baños'), es una fortaleza califal, construida en el siglo x sobre un pequeño cerro que domina la localidad de Baños de la Encina, situada en el norte de la provincia de Jaén (Andalucía, España).
Rodeado y flanqueado por una robusta y almenada muralla con catorce torres, más una decimoquinta torre del homenaje de factura cristiana, el castillo apenas ha sufrido daños, ya sean causados por el tiempo o la acción humana. Representa por tanto un ejemplo perfecto de fortaleza andalusí del siglo x, y constituye el conjunto fortificado mejor preservado de la época califal, al mismo tiempo que es uno de los castillos musulmanes mejor conservados de toda España. Su inestimable valor histórico y artístico es la razón por la que este castillo llegó a ser declarado como Monumento Nacional en 1931.1os de la Encina (Jaén)

A spectacular and distinctive flycatcher, the bright red Vermilion Flycatcher inhabits riparian areas and scrub in the southwestern United States and southward. It perches conspicuously, making periodic flights to nab insect prey.
The male Vermilion Flycatcher often seeks to initiate copulation by delivering a butterfly or other showy insect to the female.
The oldest recorded Vermillion Flycatcher was a male, and at least 4 years, 6 months old when he was shot in Mexico in 1972, the same country where he had been banded.

Immersa nella campagna della Toscana meridionale, nei dintorni del caratteristico paese di Vitaleta, si trova una piccola chiesetta chiamata Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta. Diventata una delle costruzioni più fotografate in Toscana, questa chiesa era rinomata per custodire al suo interno una statua raffigurante la Madonna, risalente all’epoca rinascimentale, scolpita dall’artista Andrea della Robbia nel 1590.
Costruita in cima ad una collina, questa chiesetta è diventata una vera e propria attrazione turistica, meta d’obbligo per tutti gli amanti della fotografia.
Restaurata nel 1884 dall’architetto Giuseppe Partini la piccola cappella è stata recentemente classificata Patrimonio Mondiale dell’Umanità dall’Unesco.
La statua della madonna è stata recentemente spostata in una chiesa nella vicina città di S.Quirico d’Orcia dove ora è più facilmente accessibile ai turisti che desiderano poterla fotografare. Questa chiesa è comunemente conosciuta come la “Chiesa della Madonna”.
Ogni anno in questa città si tiene una festa in onore della statua della Madonna e la musica che accompagna la cerimonia fuoriuscendo dalla chiesa può essere udita lungo tute le vie della città.
E siamo rimasti lì, imbambolati, a guardare le varie sfumature che il cielo assumeva nel crepuscolo riflettendole sulla neve candida.
Testata della val Biandino, culminante nei 2554 m. del Pizzo dei Tre Signori.

Another from my visit to the Hatchet Pond a few weeks ago. Located near Beaulieu, the pond makes a good sunset location this time of year.
Before I left Basingstoke the forecast looked promising, low wind speed with Sunny intervals. I arrived 30 mins before sunset only to be disappointed to find very little cloud cover and quite a breeze.
Shortly after sunset the wind died and some cloud cover drifted in. 30 mins later I was lucky to be able to capture some great reflections and a purple hue to the sky. At least it was worth the effort in the end.
DEN HOORN - The reformed church in Den Hoorn (Texel) is a striking church building in 1425 with a White Tower.

L'Axe Majeur
L'Axe majeur est une œuvre monumentale située à Cergy, dans le département du Val-d'Oise, en France. L’œuvre s'inscrit dans une boucle de l'Oise, au centre de la ville nouvelle de Cergy-Pontoise. Elle est conçue par le sculpteur israélien Dani Karavan à partir de 1980. L'Axe est composé de douze stations sur une longueur de 3,2 kilomètres, incluant une tour penchée, un ensemble de douze colonnes, une passerelle, une île ou encore un rayon laser qui survole le parcours. Il débute dans le quartier auquel il a donné son nom, Axe Majeur - Horloge (anciennement Saint-Christophe) et s'achève à la limite avec Neuville-sur-Oise, après avoir survolé les étangs artificiels de Cergy-Neuville. Symbole de la ville nouvelle, il est également l'une des œuvres importantes de Dani Karavan, qui accompagne sa construction pendant plus de trente ans.
