Sunday 21st of April saw the arrival of Cyclops, the last remaining original single headlight English Electric Unit.
Built in Preston in 1949-1950 these trains saw service in Wellington with the last units finally being retired in 2012.
During 2012 a group of enthusiasts formed a trust to preserve one of the units in Wellington with the aim of eventual return to the mainline.
Today it arrived at Maymorn, the home of the Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust where WHMUPT have been offered a home and where the work now starts.
A huge debt of gratitude is owed to the following
Greater Wellington Regional Council for assisting with the donation of the unit and the costs to tow Cyclops to her new home.
Kiwirail for support in the costs of the slew of line to enable the transfer to take place and also to
All the members of the RIRHT for all the effort and support shown to our new group.
