Alex is an actor, singer, composer and photographer, who brings you new tunes wrapped in old time feeling. He sounds like Sinatra; his mannerism is also from the 1950s-60s. I have seen him treating his numerous fans, who range from twentysomething to seventysomething, with kindness and respect. The vocalist was nominated for 2022 Juno Award. (Canadian Grammy). His band the 'Jazz Mavericks' include Jacob Gorzhaltsan-sax, Ewen Farncombe-piano, Daniel Botos-drums and Ben Dwyer on bass. At 'Tapestry' on the day it opened under new ownership.

A couple of frosty little leaves in my front yard…they looked to me like they were getting ready to fly off to somewhere; perhaps, as Frank sang, to the moon…I also liked that they kind of appeared to be holding hands ;-)

I very recently heard the news that John Douglas of Scotland's Trashcan Sinatras had passed and realized I never posted any photos of the band. I saw them a very long time ago the last day after I photographed a major music festival and still had the energy of probably a 21 year old even though I was actually 29. Those were the days I used to shoot three shows a night all across the city biking along in pouring rain as if it was as easy as reciting the alphabet.
Sigh.
I really enjoyed this band's music for a long time. They are quite sincere and genuine throughout their albums. Once, I ran into these hip indie kids who had never heard of Radiohead but Trashcan Sinatras were their favorite band and that boggled my mind just a little!
As Frank Lynch just noted, I actually had mislabeled this though Douglas's death did make me think about the band and seeing them. This is actually a photograph of Francis Reader.

Most often the V-fronted Jumping Spider (Aelurillus v-insignitus) has green eyes, but this one was distinctly a blue-eyed individual.
