Hey everyone, here’s my build for the Slice of Life collab with the people tagged below!
Special shoutouts to Eric for the help with the top floor and Julian for the help with the door design.

I've always wanted to build a scene like this, a little waterwheel framed by trees--so when my collab team said that's what they were thinking of, I was right on board! Loved getting to use some bright leaf colors (by the way, there are a ton of leaves in this build!) and the water was also super fun with some sideways tiles to hopefully get a good movement effect. And of course, the micro house was fun too. Only regret there is having a couple of leaves in the way of my gabled roof!

My fourth build in my Iron Builder round against Jonah!
The seed part, the Minecraft Trident in sand green, was used 20 times.
Beren and Lúthien face Carcharoth at the top of the stairs as they escape from Angband with a Silmaril.
Carcharoth, the foul breed of Draugluin himself: the Greatest Werewolf to have ever lived, Guardian of Angband, and terror of those who would enter there... or to those who would escape from thence... Morgoth himself fed this beast, and Morgoth would not, at any cost, have him let those who cross his path escape.

The story of Beren and Lúthien and their brave quest is a touching one, although I have not read it. I didn't want to do anything short of a masterpiece to honour them, so I hope that this is such!
Thanks to God, for I don't think I could have done it at all without extra grace :) . I don't even feel tired, surprisingly! Thanks also to Justin Gerard who did a wonderful artwork based off this scene, which I attempted to closely follow! I hope you like it!

This was not an easy build, and I don't know just what to think about it. I hope it's interesting, and I may say I learned a few more things making it, it's a pity I didn't have more pieces and more opportunity to perfect it!
This build is for the Summer Joust, and it is very delicate because I had to fit it all in a width of 6 studs, which was... very challenging in many regards! You can see the proof below in the first comment. But I enjoyed it, and I hope you like it at least a little!

For the 2023 RogueOlympics - Round 6: Wild.
This week I decided to venture for the first time into the realm of (soft) post-apoc scenery, where urban landscapes and wilderness are synonymous. 101 pieces used!

Yet that crystal was to the Silmarils but as is the body to the Children of Ilúvatar: the house of its inner fire, that is within it and yet in all parts of it, and is its life.

Another frail gem preserved to us in the deep of an undergroud cave. It is like to be in a Tolkien's tale!

Here's one last, very quick entry to the SJ, for the vignette category - my first vignette ever! And yes, everything fits inside the compulsory 12x12 studs, except for the lamppost, which I counted as "minor overhang".
I kind of consider this as a filler build, simply because I was having lots of fun building for the contest and didn't want it to end ;) Although I consider my "tudor house or nothing" period to be over, this was a nice trip down memory lane. There actually are rooms inside the house (it ain't mine if there ain't any), but time ran out to make them Flickr-worthy. The "baron von Speiz" minifig is actually 3 years old; I originally built it for my Streets of Dathach MOC but never got to use it. But finally, finally, it's been used! Now I can get that cape and that Wolfpack torso back :)
Also, I think I'm becoming a bit of a pyrotechnics aficionado :P

Seguro que muchos conocéis la expresión "el lucero del alba" para referirnos a la estrella brillante que vemos por la mañana; es bien visible antes del amanecer y es la última en desaparecer debido a su alta luminosidad.
También es la misma que sigue a nuestro astro cuando se oculta pero por alguna razón se le da más notoriedad con las primeras luces.
En la antigua Grecia se creía que eran 2 astros disitintos y recibían diferente nombre: Phosphoros para la estrella del alba y Heosphoros para la de la tarde.
En otras lenguas vemos las similitudes:
"Morning star", (Inglés)
"Étoile du matin", (Francés)
"Morgenstern" (Alemán)
"Waraq koyllur" (Quechua)
todas hablan de una estrella al alba.
Ha sido fuente de mitos y apoyo para religiones, incluso dio pie a la fantasía:
"...- La mitología de Tolkien descrita en El Silmarillion culmina con el marinero Eärendil elevándose en el firmamento con un silmaril en la frente, convirtiéndose así en el lucero del alba, signo de esperanza para elfos y hombres. A su vez, en El Señor de los Anillos, uno de los nombres por los que es conocida la elfa Arwen es "Undómiel" (estrella de la tarde)..."
Un silmaril en el cielo... ¿esta explicación engancha más que la mayoría no?, 😏 . Quizá podáis decir, ya que habéis llegado hasta aquí leyendo, de qué está hecha esa joya y en qué viaja Ëarendil.

Eärendil was a mariner
that tarried in Arvernien;
he built a boat of timber felled
in Nimbrethil to journey in;
her sails he wove of silver fair,
of silver were her lanterns made,
her prow was fashioned like a swan,
and light upon her banners laid.
For this year's Summer Joust I decided to venture into the First Age of Tolkien lore as I reread The Silmarillion earlier this year (although the above excerpt is from Bilbo's song as printed in LotR). So for the Sailors and Boatmen category I built Eärendil in his ship Vingilot sailing west to ask the Valar for help in freeing Middle-earth from Morgoth's tyranny. On his forehead he bears the Silmaril that Beren and Luthien once stole from Morgoth's crown and that his wife Elwing brought to him as a bird.
Unfortunately the shimmering Silmaril is only a post-process effect, but I fittingly used the head of Eärendil's son's minifigure from LEGO's recent Rivendell set. The ship itself is mostly inspired by Ted Nasmith's illustrations (but doesn't attempt to capture any of them accurately), as it made for a smaller and more streamlined ship, concentrating on the essence of its design. Although the category allows for custom sails and rigging, the build only uses genuine LEGO elements. The silver sail is held together by nets.

Here's my entry to the SJ poster challenge! This was a quick build: it's not perfect, but I like it :)
The blazons on the shields are not only decorative, they also follow traditional emblazoning rules and have a symbolic meaning, as real ones did in medieval times.
The one on the right symbolizes the virtues of the jousting knight:
- Or (gold, aka. dark yellow here) stands for force;
- Gules (red) for courage and boldness;
- Sable (black) for knowledge of their art and modesty.
Thus shalt be the knights of the Summer Joust!
The one on the left symbolizes the deeds of arms of the valiant (aka. MOCs):
- Azur (blue) for beauty and majesty;
- Or for force and purity;
- Gules for prowess.
Thus shalt be the deeds accomplished by the noble contestants!
*In the medieval period, symbolism was present in almost everything, including colors. Hence to each color was attributed a set of virtues (or vices): blue had royal virtues, whereas yellow signified treason and deceit.

I have wanted to do a witch scene for quite a while, and explosions too, and smoke, and frogs, and so on, so I just dumped them all into a single creation ;) I quite like how it turned out, but I could use some feedback on the backdrop edit: I might have gone totally overboard with the editing, but I'm not sure...
[MELO 2022 Free Build Entry]
In the year 506 of the First Age of Middle Earth, the sons of Fëanor and their followers attacked the secret, guarded forest realm of Doriath, ruled by the half-elven King Dior, in search of a Silmaril captured by the fabled Beren from the clutches of Morgoth himself. Upon Dior's refusal to answer the greed-induced requests of the seven sons of Fëanor, they began a devastating attack upon the forest realm of their elven kin. Many elves were killed, including King Dior and his wife Queen Nimloth. Despite the bloodshed, the sons of Fëanor never found the Silmaril, which had been whisked away by Elwing and some surviving elves. This grievous treachery led to the complete collapse of the kingdom of Doriath and weakened the free peoples' ability to counter Morgoth in the battles to come.

"I aten't dead".
Hi everyone! Here is my first finished creation of 2018! This has been sitting on my desk for the best part of 6 months, so it was time I finished and snapped some pics of it - plus with a new, much better camera! Hope you'll see a difference :P I was lucky enough to be able to show it in public at the Fan Weekend in Paredes de Coura, Portugal, along with a few other MOCs, which was probably one of the greatest and funnest events I have ever attended.
It was a very interesting and fun building experience, as I was able to experiment with colors I don't usually use. Another challenge in this MOC was to make it both stable enough and simple to disassemble in modules for transport. I even got some of my non-LEGO-fan friends to test it for stability (effectiveness guaranteed).

A byrding is a small viking merchant ship made for travel in shallow waters. It was used from late Antiquity to the end of the Viking Age.
This has been waiting to be photographed for a very long time now. It was originally supposed to be incorporated into a larger diorama for the "Shipyard" category of the CCC XV in 2017. It was pieces away from being finished, but I wasn't able to find time to finish it, or to come up with a decent idea for a base.
I finished it in a hurry in time for the Paredes de Coura Fan Week-end in June 2018, then left it to the dust of my shelves. I took it out again for my 2nd attendance at the Banyuls-sur-Mer exibition in September. After several unsuccessful attempts at photographing it and a little more dust-gathering, I finally took upon myself to purchase a new background roughly suiting the color scheme and the atmosphere I wanted to create. :)
As usual, I tried making it as close to reality as I could possibly could with the documents and original mesurements I had (which wasn't a lot).
I think the part I am the most proud of is the hull, which I managed to make extremely thin, without compromising the stability and solidity of the whole model. I'm really excited at the idea of perhaps refining the techniques I used in the future for another longship! Another thing I find cool is that the rigging really plays a role in the solidity of the MOC, and isn't just there for aesthetic reasons ;)

MELO 2022 Round 2 Entry

During the climactic War of Wrath, while under siege by the whole host of Valinor and the Valar, Morgoth, in a last-ditch attempt to stave off defeat, released his darkest creature yet conceived, the gargantuan dragon Ancalagon the Black. Middle Earth had never nor has not since seen a dragon even approach his size and power.
Riding in from the west, however, came Eärendil, armed with a Silmaril on his brow and sailing on his flying vessel which had been blessed by the Valar. Eärendil, along with a host of great Eagles, struck down Ancalagon, whose corpse was so massive it flattened the largest mountains in Middle Earth, the three peaks of the Thangorodrim.
Thus ended the War of Wrath, Morgoth's reign, and the First Age of Middle Earth.

This was a pretty last-minute build. I had the idea for a week but was delayed in implementation and built it in a day. There is a lot I would change about it, but for my first foray into creature building, I thought it turned out okay! I'd love to hear any feedback in the comments, and hope you enjoy the build :)
