Saint Valentine’s Day celebrated as the day of articulation of love falls on the 14th of February. Very little is known about the Saint in whose honour the feast was established by the Roam Catholic Church in the 5th Century AD. It is supposed to have been a Christianization of a Pagan festival of Lupercalia, a fertility festival. Chaucer was probably the first to associate Saint Valentine’s Day with romantic love. His Parlement of Foules has the following verse;
“For this was on seynt Volantynys day
When euery byrd comyth there to chese his make”
Whatever the story behind the day, and whatever the history of Saint Valentine, Love makes the world go! As Ralf Waldo Emerson said, ‘Give all to love; obey thy heart.’
Zehra is my youngest granddaughter she turned 4 this month during the pandemic she and her mother had left our city to their hometown so they failed to register her for school admission online .
I tried through every source possible I met the principal a nun of a convent school where my daughter had studied this representative of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary was downright rude and inhospitable I don't know if my wife's burkha or hijab got on her goat I had documented the same nun order feeding the poor during the pandemic I have stood by the Christian community supported them through the demolition of their Crosses but when I told her she told me it does not interest her really bad outsourcing of nuns by their order I hope the Vatican takes note funny thing is almost 60 percent of students are Muslims in convent schools .
However I did not give up hope I contacted Shiv Sena Yuva member friend Mr Rahul Kanal finally got her admitted to another school...In some schools I am told you have to pay hefty donations to get admission.
A Catholic friend too tried to help me but to no avail our Bandra local representative also did not help ...I could have got help on Twitter but I moved out last November...I wanted to complain to the Arch Diocese but I let it go I don't want to end up playing the victim card my sons my daughter'my other granddaughter s studied in a convent school.
Sadly our rich Muslims only build Madrasas instead of mainstream schools that could help poor Muslim students .
However in my life I would never vote for a Muslim party or send my wards to a Muslim school.
For me Jesus came into my life as a five year old in a Methodist Church later years in Holy Name High School affiliated to the Wodehouse Road Cathedral.
For my young granddaughter s admission even my so called Catholic friend Jesuit priest could not help me .
This is a story of my life and it's ensuing pain.

Today was my 7 day of walking .
I left my house at 5.36 I crossed Leelavati Hospital at 5 .47 and end of Bandra Reclamation near Agasty Building at 5 .59 .
I take a U turn back to Leelavati Hospital and walk to the MET Gardens at 6.06 .
I take 10 rounds that I complete by 6.38 and I am back home by 6.48 .
And earlier when I walked at Carter Road I carried my camera and shot people , or some interesting detail of life ...those days I did not have a camera on my mobile phone and to think I had a Blackberry much later but never used it as a camera it would have been an insult to my DSLR .
My son presented me the Motorola G old version that I use and shoot pictures prolifically ,,and now I dont carry my camera on my walks , there is nothing much to shoot from my house till the end of Bandra Reclamation .. just the dump off Rand Sharda and ricksha guys defecating with deafening roars mostly migrants from Uttar Pradesh .. and at 5.30 am there is huge crowd this end .. some sleep in the rickshas so the open dump or a mound is the best public toilet ,, there is no lavatory or public toilet on this stretch.
The ragpickers cum drug addicts or junkies sleep on the roads , and the Municipal Children s playground next to MET Gardens is a hub for drunkards and junkies , badly maintained , no lighting pitch dark and also used as gym by the locals from the adjoining slums .But I have seen the educated class living in the buildings across are happy , and this is a solid BJP Shivsena vote bank.. they dont care and dont complain.. life goes on.
And our political honchos take extra mileage using actor Sharukh Khans ramp as means of appeasing and holding on to the Christian votes .. The ramp a concrete platform where he parked his vanity van.. was demolished to give access to those who use this path to visit Mount Marys Basilica .
There is so much ugliness in and around Bandra Bazar Road , Bandra Reclamation , Chinchpokli Road that it is not see bt our local representatives .
Trees have been chopped near ONGC quarters , Bandra Reclamation but they have been dumped on the pavement the Municipality has no time to clear it I have been seeing it since the time I began walking.. and if there is a useless civic body in Bandra it is the Bandra Municipality and they dont care a flying fuck.. the greatest enemy of Bandra is the Bandra Municipality , totally insensitive , apathetic and not interested in seeing Bandra beautiful once Bandra was known as the Queen of the Suburbs ,, now it is a Queen of open gutters and bad roads .
And because of this neglect Bandra once a Congress citadel slipped out of their slithering hands .. the Hand that could barely rock the vote banks they had created in the slums.Even the slumdwellers gave them a golden handshake .
Our local representatives sadly dont love Bandra as they should ,, our MP stays in the tony surroundings of Worli.. and our MLA has a lot of city responsibilities of his party.
There should b a CEO for Bandra ..and they should privatize the Municipality .. I was going to have a photo walk with young photographers to show them the dirtiest ugliest parts of Bandra .. and I kept it on hold in case the political representatives want to join in too,..
And there has to be a purpose to photography , it is a means to an end shedding light on the nether regions of darkness and despair .Why cant Bandra be a model suburb... it has beauty it has culture heritage and smart kids ..
I met Michael my English walking friend he wants me to come to his school where he teaches in Worli and give a talk on photography to the young kids , photography should be a subject that should be taught from primary,,it would change the way a child thinks and sees the world.
My 3 year old grand daughter youngest street photographer of Bandra Nerjis was telling her grand ma my wife ,, Dadda meaning Granny my pictures are on Flickr ,, meaning her pictures are on Flickr ,,

Happy Morning From Bandra Lets Bygones Br Bygone .
I move away from the world of Gambhir Singh I am happy for him Love in the hearts of his brother sisters in Manipur found him..He deserved another chance and God used me as medium of his divine intervention .
Ever since I came back to Facebook I have a love and intense hate with this platform..it is recently that I made my posts public otherwise all my posts were marked friends I did it as to reach out to help a man find his way home ,, I did it for Gambhir Singh of Kumbong Village Imphal Manipur ,
I dont add friends on Facebook when I started off I had 2500 plus friends but there were many that reported my head bleeding photos of my kama matam I am a Shia Muslim so I pruned my friends list and was happy with 1500 friends .
Than Gambhir Singh happened I was shocked by the wave after wave of friend requests from Manipur and of Manipuris from other parts of India and the world I surrendered my soul opened the doors of my private space on Facebook... let everyone in I deleted just two requests from Manipur one of a person whose spirituality was totally against my own Shiasm Sufism and another that was using Asifa as a tool to hurt all HIndus of India .
I am not into politics I have friends cutting across party lines ,,my best friends are In BJP Shivsena MNS Swabhiman ..yes I have very few friends in the Congress and here I will be damned if I keep my shut I voted for a Congress Free Bandra as the laid back leaders did nothing for the poor or the common man in their white Armani attire Gucci shoes they came to hoist our national flag disappeared
God made sure they disappeared to completely from Bandra ,,,though I have reservations against the silence of the ruling party I have decided to use NOTA in the next elections sadly in this political graveyard full of zombies I see no alternative to individually take on Modiji.
I voted for Advocate Ashish Shelar President of BJP he is a good man and lives in our building,,,if I need help when I am helping people anywhere in India he takes my call does the needful,,he is a Hindu I am a Muslim but he has always been there for me ,,

This is me ,,with malice to none I am a beggar poet ,,
And some pictures like this boy I shot at Ajmer 8 years back make me talkative ,, I never saw him again I searched for him..but I wish those rich pompous Muslims that buy huge expensive Goats Camels Dumba could have bought him prosthetics .
I celebrate Bakra Eid but since 10 years I donate our Goat blood money to pay the fees of children in the slums .
How good or bad Muslim I am ...God is surely aware of that I am ready to be caned burnt in Hell for my shortcomings ..
I am changing evolving falling getting up and one reason why I felt for Gambhir Singh I was a hardcore alcoholic I robbed destroyed my children's childhood I drank like a fish in a half empty aquarium..I lost love but my Lucknow based hardcore Shia wife held to me though I was a broken brick of the edifice that was my home .
I changed I stopped drinking on the day of Gauri Visarjan years back so a Hindu goddess was also part of my reformation I have never touched a drop of booze since 20 years or more .

Old Monk
I began walking since 10 Feb 2015 and I have seriously adhered to my routine I missed two days as I was part of a Bollywood shoot of my favorite actor Mr Danny Denzongpa.
I have changed my routine earlier I walked to the end of Bandra Reclamation I have discontinued this part of my road walk instead I walk at the MET Grounds take about 20 to 25 rounds each round is about 280 mtrs.
Than I walk to the next door Gen Arun Vaidya Childrens park do some free hand exercises I call it our local gym..I have made a few friends here and lean some new exercise or other .
Today after almost a month I saw the face of the security guard, I was totally surprised as this park is the haunt of drunkards and drug addicts and sadly our local representatives have not yet visited this park to see it going to seed ..this park could be revitalized and made intoone of the best parks of Bandra ,The will of the people of this BJP Shivsena vote bank is missing.. and they hardly care ..
The outer space of this childrens municipal park is used as garbage dump , for last three days I have been shooting an abandoned toilet and today I shot a cycle chained to the park..and the security guard told me it has been here for a long time he does not know the owner .
I have met friends on my walk one Mr Nurruddin Panjwani and a NRI gentleman from Canada Mr Mazumdar a passionate walker and does yoga ..
After I finish my exercise routine I take a short cut viathe Bazar Sunni mosque take a shot of a friendly pony ..that is used by a Christian friends for Buggy rides at Almeida Park.
He takes very good of his ponies personally.
After that I shot the beef market totally shut down because of the Beef Ban.. the guys who worked here are now jobless and unemployed and this means without politicizing it , that it is used to appease RSS the parent body of the BJP.. I think if they feel all cattle should be banned than they should ban mutton chicken and pork too.
And I feel most of the unemployed Muslim workers now demoralized with the ban might be drawn into criminal activities to make ends meet ,, I hope not as every newspaper only highlights Muslim criminals and their criminal acts even before they are investigated or proved guilty ,thereby instigating public opinion and sometimes irresponsible media news can lead to the murder of an innocent man.and the eunuch cops of Dimapur Nagaland as much guilty as the vigilante crowd .
I came home had a glass of milk the diabetic medicine over soaked in water Paneer Ka Pjool read both Hindudtan Times Sunday Midday and crashed I got up at 1.30 .. We have discontinued DNA newspaper at our house ,,
After a shower I took my granddaughter Nerjis Asif Shakir to shoot the Pandal of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Bandra Bazar Road . making her stand on a chair she shot the arti.
Than I took a haircut and afterwards while heading home Nerjis shot the two senior beggars Jaffar Bhai and Khwajah Bhai gave them money too.
And she shot the ill famed ugliest spot in Bandra Bazar our Municipal dump..she has been shooting this dump since the age of 2 ,, the heritage of a Bandra Bazar gone to seed.
Happy International Womans Day.. and Nerjis shot a picture of a woman lying on the road .. no past no present no future ,,
One of the richest corporations with huge money resources funds is the stingiest agency bent on breaking the back of Mumbai , it does not supply gloves , masks or safety shoes to its employees or their contract workers ..I have shot their videos working in the muck , prone to diseases , but even our laidback municipal local representatives are not bothered ,, and those who fight any election in Mumbai or elsewhere the main criteria is to make money gain wealth assets in their spouses name or benami.. public welfare is never the main option, empty hollow rhetoric masterful oratory and than the skeletons start falling out from the termite infested cupboard.. I have seen nobody really cares for the public , the only one time they do is when they come with a rubber stamp smile and folded hands ,,
Once they win the seat , it is trying hard to get a position in the cabinet or head some lucrative position ..you all know the whole story ..Mumbai is dying because of the apathy of leaders who come hick towns and are hell bent on making Mumbai a hick town too.. The Congress NCP or The BJP Shivsena combine , nobody really really cares for Mumbai.. Mumbai is well for drawing out wealth and than leave it high and dry till the next government comes ,,
I say bu id temples build Statues in the Sea , build a Memorial for Hon Bala Saheb Thackeray he deserves it his followers and everyone wants his memory to live on but also at the same time along with the coastal road , build better roads more ladies toilets and at Bandra Reclamation the hub of migrants people shit every morning on a Mound off Rang Sharda ,, I am not a journalistic pro.. but I shoot pictures the only testimony of my pain seeing my beloved city going to the dogs because of the insensitivity of our silent leaders ,, one thing that our last PM bequeathed to the ruling Junta is More Silence ,,
Thank Man Moun Singh jI
ps ..the gloves and the masks they are using is bought by their own money ..lol

Balasaheb Keshav Thackeray (IPA: [ʈʰakəɾe]; 23 January 1926[1] – 17 November 2012[4]) was an Indian politician, founder and chief of the Shiv Sena, a right-wing Hindu nationalist, and Marathi ethnocentric party active mainly in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. His followers called him the Hindu Hriday Samraat ("Emperor of Hindu Hearts").[5]
Thackeray began his professional career as a cartoonist with the English language daily The Free Press Journal in Mumbai, but left it in 1960 to form his own political weekly Marmik. His political philosophy was largely shaped by his father Keshav Sitaram Thackeray, a leading figure in the Samyukta Maharashtra movement (United Maharashtra movement), which advocated the creation of a separate linguistic state of Maharashtra. Through Marmik, he campaigned against the growing influence of Gujaratis, Marwaris, and south Indians in Mumbai.[1] In 1966, Thackeray formed the Shiv Sena party to advocate more strongly the place of Maharashtrians in Mumbai's political and professional landscape. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Thackeray built the party by forming temporary alliances with nearly all of Maharashtra's political parties.[6] Thackeray was also the founder of the Marathi-language newspaper Saamana and the Hindi-language newspaper Dopahar ka saamana.[7] He was the subject of numerous controversies.[6] Upon his death, he was accorded a state funeral with over 2,000,000 mourners.
Early and personal life
Thackeray was born to Keshav Sitaram Thackeray (also known as 'Prabodhankar' Thackeray) in Pune[2], in a Marathi Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu family.[8] Keshav Thackeray was a progressive social activist and writer who was against caste biases and played a key role in the Samyukta Maharashtra Chalwal (literally, United Maharashtra Movement) in the 1950s to form the Marathi-speaking state of Maharashtra with Mumbai as its capital.
Thackeray was married to Meena Thackeray and had 3 sons Bindumadhav Thackeray, Jaidev Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray. [9] His wife Meena and son Bindumadhav passed away in 1996. [10]
Early career
Thackeray started his career as a cartoonist in the Free Press Journal in Bombay.[11] His cartoons were also published in the Sunday edition of The Times of India. In 1960, he launched a cartoon weekly Marmik with his brother.[11] He used it to campaign against the growing numbers and influence of non-Marathi people in Mumbai, targeting Gujaratis and South Indian labor workers.[11] After Thackeray's differences with the Free Press Journal, he and four or five people, including George Fernandes, left the paper and started their own daily News Day. The paper survived for one or two months.[12]
Politics
He formed the Shiv Sena on 19 June 1966 with the intent of fighting for the rights of the natives of the state of Maharashtra.[13] The early objective of the Shiv Sena was to ensure job security for Maharashtrians competing against immigrants from southern India, Gujaratis and Marwaris.[14] In 1989, the Sena's newspaper Saamna was launched.[15]
Politically, the Sena was anti-communist and wrested control of trade unions in Mumbai from the Communist Party of India and demanded protection money (extortion) from Gujarati and marwari business leaders. It later allied itself with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the common issue of Hindu Nationalism which both parties believed in. The BJP-Shiv Sena combine won the 1995 Maharashtra State Assembly elections and came to power. During the tenure of the government from 1995 to 1999, Thackeray was nicknamed 'remote control' since he played a major role in government policies and decisions from behind the scenes. Thackeray lost his wife Meena to a heart attack in September 1996, and his eldest son Bindumadhav ("Binda") to a road accident on 20 April 1996.[16]
On July 28, 1999 Thackeray was banned from voting and contesting in any election for six years from December 11, 1999 till December 10, 2005 on the recommendations of the Election Commission.[17] After the six-year voting ban on Thackeray was lifted in 2005, he voted for the first time in the 2006 BMC elections.[18]
Thackeray claimed that the Shiv Sena had helped the Marathi manoos (Maharashtrian laymen) in Mumbai and also fought for the rights of Hindu people. Thackeray was a staunch Hindu and believed that Hindus must be organised to struggle against those who oppose their identity and religion.[19] especially in the public sector.[20] Opposition leftist parties allege that the Shiv Sena has done little to solve the problem of unemployment facing a large proportion of Maharashtrian youth during its tenure, in contradiction to its ideological foundation of 'sons of the soil.'[21]
Factionalism
In 2006, Thackeray's nephew Raj Thackeray separated from the Shiv Sena to form the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. This was after Thackeray's son, Uddhav, was given the task of leading the party when Thackeray announced his retirement from active politics. Raj continues to maintain that Thackeray was his ideologue.[citation needed] Following, Maharashtrian general election, 2010 in which Shiv Sena and MNS split their expected consitituency leading to an inability to form a government. Thackeray then spoke negatively of the rift with the MNS blaming Raj for the defeat.
Issues and actions
On February 14, 2006, Thackeray condemned and apologised for the violent attacks by Shiv Sainiks upon a private Valentine's Day celebration in Mumbai. "It is said that women were beaten up in the Nallasopara incident. If that really happened, then it is a symbol of cowardice. I have always instructed Shiv Sainiks that in any situation women should not be humiliated and harassed."[22] Thackeray and the Shiv Sena remained opposed to Valentine's Day celebrations, although they indicated support for an "Indian alternative."[23] However, in some cases, the SS has been more tolerant during Valentine's Day celebrations.[24]
Thackeray was criticised for his praise of Adolf Hitler.[25][26] He was quoted by Asiaweek as saying: "I am a great admirer of Hitler, and I am not ashamed to say so! I do not say that I agree with all the methods he employed, but he was a wonderful organiser and orator, and I feel that he and I have several things in common...What India really needs is a dictator who will rule benevolently, but with an iron hand."[27] However, Indian Express published an interview 29 January, 2007: "Hitler did very cruel and ugly things. But he was an artist, I love him [for that]. He had the power to carry the whole nation, the mob with him. You have to think what magic he had. He was a miracle...The killing of Jews was wrong. But the good part about Hitler was that he was an artist. He was a daredevil. He had good qualities and bad. I may also have good qualities and bad ones."[28] He later told the Star Talk talk show on Star Plus that he did not admire Hitler.[29]
Thackeray was admitted to Lilavati Hospital's intensive care unit in Mumbai on 25 July 2012 after he complained of breathlessness.[48] As per reports on 14 November, he stopped eating and was on continuous oxygen.[49] Shiva Sainiks in the areas where the party draws support forced shops to close. These included Vakola, Shivaji Nagar, Chembur, Navi Mumbai, Andheri, Parel, Dadar and Matunga, amongst others. In other parts of Mumbai, some shops voluntary closed, citing the risk of untoward incidents should Thackeray's health deteriorate and possibly be fatal.[50] Party spokesman Sanjay Raut said his health as improving, as his son, Uddhav, called on the party's members to pray for him. Bollywood also stopped filming, while the Pakistan Cricket Board wished him well.[51]
Thackeray death was announced at 17:00 by his family doctor Jaleel Parkar on 17 November at "Matoshree", his Mumbai residence, following cardio-respiratory arrest at 15:33 local time, according to his physician.[52][53] A vigil was held outside his house that night.[54] Mumbai came to virtual halt immediately after his death, with shops and commercial establishments closed, while auto rickshaws and taxis also stayed off streets;[55][56] even pharmacies and other essential good stores wee closed. Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation announced that it would run additional services, along with BEST. The whole of Maharashtra was put on alert, while Mumbai had an additional 20,000 Mumbai police officers, 15 units of the State Reserve Police Force and three contingents of the Rapid Action Force were deployed. An unnamed police officer said: "Nobody has been asked to shut their shops or malls. Everybody closed their shops voluntarily. Autorickshaws and taxis also voluntarily stopped plying on the roads."
Reactions
The two papers he founded headlined their papers the next day with full black print, it was also Saamna's cover page were print in black. The headline read: "Ishwari Avtarache Swargarohan" (A divine avatar goes to heaven) and "Balasaheb navache vadal shaant zhale." (A storm cloud called Balasaheb is peaceful). The Hindi language Dopahar Ka Saamna, which usually does not publish on Sundays, printed a special edition tribute to Thackeray which was also in black with a silhouetted right side visage of Thackeray and headlined the edition: "Hinduon Ke Mahadev Ka Mahaprayan" and penned the lyrics : "Jo uthe Ram/jo uthe Krishna/Bharat ki mitti roti hai/ Kya hua hamare Saheb ko/Yeh murti na zinda hoti hai." The inside pages of the edition had thick black bands with the text and images in a grey background, or other colours dependent on the content.[57]
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called for "calm and sobriety" amongst the populace in the city, while praising Thackeray's "strong leadership;" his Twitter account posted a message that read: "He was a consummate communicator whose stature in the politics of Maharashtra was unique." Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi wrote: "Full of life, Balasaheb Thackeray was an epitome of courage & valour. I am grieved to hear about his demise. May his soul rest in peace." BJP leader and MP L. K. Advani said: "It is rare that I have seen a leader who has left a deep and abiding imprint on the country's events as Balasaheb Thackeray. He was uncompromising in his patriotism. He possessed remarkable qualities of leadership and an abundance of attributes of head and heart." Politician Arvind Kejriwal wrote: "Balasaheb no more. May his soul Rest in Peace. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family." The Federation of Associations of Maharashtra called for a bandh, terming it 'Shradhanjali Day, on 19 November as a mark of respect for Thackeray. "The state of Maharashtra and the trading community has lost a true friend and a well-wisher. Balasaheb was a great son of the soil and a true nationalist who minced no words to express his views." FAM's affiliated include Agriculture Produce Market Committee and other commodity markets that trade in grains, sugar, dry fruits, metal, iron and steel and chemicals.[58]
Individual reactions included, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani issued a statement that read: "I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder-president of the Shiv Sena. The nation and the state of Maharashtra have lost a great leader, whose robust patriotism matched his soaring popularity. His clear thinking, inspiring oratory and commitment to cause endeared him to the masses."[59] CNN-IBN anchor Rajdeep Sardesai wrote: "Tiger, Godfather, Mumbai icon, hero for many, villain for others. # Balasaheb Thackeray RIP"[60] and "Line of the day: Bombay made Bal Thackeray, Balasaheb made 'Mumbai'! Gnight."[61] Celebrity reactions included, Amitabh Bachchan wrote: "Each day he continued his struggle with a grit that was baffling even for the doctors on hand...And just a couple of hours back, as I stand next to his still, peaceful, saffron draped body, it is difficult to imagine...that he has left us!" Fellow Maharashtrian singer Lata Mangeshkar said: "I feel that the state has been orphaned. When I last met him he placed his hand on my head and blessed me. He was very close to my family." Other reactions from the industry came on Twitter from Kabir Bedi, Arjun Rampal,[62] Ram Gopal Varma, Hema Malini, Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Neha Dhupia, Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi, Smriti Irani (who wrote in Marathi), Dia Mirza, Riteish Deshmukh (son of former INC Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh), Ranvir Shorey, Kunal Kohli, Ritesh Sidhwani, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher[63] and Shobhaa De.[64] There were also visitations to his house in the days prior to his death by opposition and allied politicians, as well as celebrities like Salman Khan.
Funeral
He was accorded a state funeral. Funeral procession was held on 18 November 2012, at Shivaji Park, Dadar, at the same location where Thackeray had held many political rallies. On the day of his death, Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said: "I appeal to people to remain calm and maintain law and order. Citizens should step out of the houses only if it is urgent;" He added that further arrangements were organised at Shivaji Park due to the expectant crowds and arrival of VIPs.[65] People came from across Maharashtra for his funeral including the party's strongholds of Thane, Raigad, Pune, Aurangabad and Konkan regions. Police said that 200,000 people walked alongside the hearse and were later joined by others on the way to the cremation site. The media also indicated that non-Hindus, such as Muslim women and Christians, were mourning and joined the procession. His body was wrapped in the tricolour flag after the body was taken from its glass case on a truck that was decked with flowers. The truck also carried his daughter-in-law Rashmi and grandson Aditya, while his son, Uddhav, was seen in tears on television broadcasts, and his estranged nephew, Raj, was also present but walked behind the hearse after getting off the truck to join the procession. The cortege's route stopped at Sena Bhavan (his party's headquarters in Dadar, before proceeding to Shivaji Park for the cremations.[66] His nephew, Raj, was also seen in tears.[67] There were over 2,000,000 mourners attended his funeral,[68] with his cremation taking place just after 18:00 the next day. His son, Uddhav, lit the pyre.[69] The funeral included state honours, such as a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute.[70]
VIPs at his cremation included: BJP MPs Maneka Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Madhya Pradesh Chief Menister; INC Maharashtra Chief Minister; and Nationalist Congress Party MPs and cabinet members Praful Patel and Sharad Pawar, as well as his daughter, Supriya Shule. Others included Amitabh Bacchan, Anil Ambani, Sanjay Dutt, fellow Maharashtrians Nana Patekar and Mahesh Manjrekar. Cats and dogs is cliched. Its raining elephants in Mumbai.
But it hardly matters to the millions on foot on these pot holed streets, brushing shoulders with hundreds of autos, taxis and BEST buses, not to forget the thela walas and those who call the pavements their home.
Mumbai is the kingdom of Irony. Its hot throughout the year and all that the typical Mumbaikar wants is rain. And when the heavens open up ... "Why does it rain so much? When will it stop??"

We get upset when somebody alludes to the integrity or character assasinates our leaders, but if we see on introspection, we as individuals, as collective mobocracy have more hate within us than Hate communities.
We are full of venom, waiting with clench fists to hit , smash faces, atleast the guys who use the net as a tool, possibly educated net savvy, have much more hate, more for a particular community hating words. It hurts not just as a Muslim but as a thorough bred born Indian.
I always believe the country of our birth is the country of our destiny.
Religion and the country are two sides of a coin, no religion is worth its salt if it places the country on a lower rung. This is not my field of blogging, but what I have to say can be read without me trying to sound wounded..I am against Hate of all kinds for any ethnicity or humanity. My religion and my country taught me that through what was imparted as upbringing by my parents.
I write about all religion, I was shocked India Blogs does not have a category for people who blog on Interfaith, so I had to write a Professional Blogger which I am not.. I need no votes that I am on search engines people see my pictures read me , is enough for me.
The trouble is most of the times it is Indians who do not like Indians.
Indians love bashing Indians .Dogpile of Hate.
I saw how I scared the other crabs in a bottle at Sulekha Blogs when I posted 600 blogs in six days. They blocked me saying my language was fuck oriented..Lol
I write about Hijdas , without denting or bruising my sexual orientation, but if given a magnanimous choice I would rather be a Hjda than a dogpile of shit hating Man.
The countrys law , order is everyones problem it affects all of us, hate progroms affect all of us, when Maratha leaders are denigrated it affects us all, as we are proud mee Mumbaikars.

This is a unique community that lives on the pavement of Mori Road diagonally opposite Mahim Station weaving baskets , baskets that are used for storing fish by the koli women, baskets are in demand with vegetable and flower sellers too.
The women of this community go about their work diligently, the men are laid back play cards drink ..and take life as it comes , some men the older ones assist the women in weaving the baskets.
The kids beg at both the traffic signals the one at Mori Road the other at the far end of St Michael Church. This brings in the extra bit for the concerned family.
The kid beggars of this community are very convincing with their begging speech invoking Allah, Makhdoom Shah Baba the Mahim Saint , or any divinity in keeping with the person they are begging from , if it is a Hindu than they will appeal on behalf of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi, or Durga Mata , this also depends on the seasonal religious flavor of a Hindu feast.
During Navratra they begged with Gharbi pots in their hands.
This community has a branch at Mahim off Mori Road closer to Fisherman Colony, the other branch or offshoot is close to Nargis Dutt Colony at Bandra Reclamation..
This is a nice study if one is passionate about street photography..Mumbai street life shows you facets of domestic quarrels on the road , kids playing cricket cars zooming by, hawkers plying their trade undisturbed , as they pay hafta to the authorities and the local Bhai or don of the area.
Most of the street settlers are touts of politicians as this huge chunk is a powerful vote bank..they raise the flag of the party that feeds them..first come first serve basis.
On the night before the elections I was told in confidence by a resident of the street of Bandra Reclamation, a lot of money flows to garner support in terms of vote..He said sometimes people paid by a party go and vote for the opposing party too.. Politics is a perfect pass time for the jobless , Rs 250 is paid to a person joining the rally .. more if they have kids.. more if they are in burkhas..yes this democracy..one wise man and a million blind fools..the Muslim card is the most sought after ..as the Muslim vote can change the face of the hustings here , those at Band Stand , Pali Hill , Carter Road go away for a long well deserved holiday during voting time...Most of them ensconced at their holiday villas at Alibagh , Murud Janjira or Igatpuri..
The first rally at Bandra Reclamation was that of the BSP last night I kept away but saw it from my balcony..the people in the fray here at Bandra is sitting MLA Baba Siddiki of Congress NCP combine , Ashish Shelar BJP /ShivSena combine and a lone Independent candidate municipal councilor Rahebar Khan.
The walls are still pristine white soon you will see the writing on the walls ..Vote For ...Stable Government ..and such jocular tongue in cheek verbosity..
The shrilly chorus of kids Ek Do... Phek Do..Sab Se Pehle Hath Ha Hum Tumhare Sath Hai..Rahebar Khans election symbol is a cricket bat.. and he is going to hit a six his supporter told me..but than he got upset when I told him that both Baba Siddiki and Ashish Shelar are great bowlers too, one a fast medium pace the other a left arm spinner..he has since last two days stopped talking to me..Strange are the ways of democracy..
The BSP will be soon canvasing with a huge statue of a White Elephant and if they come to power here in Bandra .. well will have a statue of smiling Madam M at Carter Road.. one opposite Sharukh Khans house at Band Stand .. another one of a Dalit leader opposite Salman Khans house..
Democracy and the electoral process is the true pulse of our cultural ethos.
The MNS is not putting up any candidate ..this is one question or statement that needs no answer..Politics makes strange bedfellows too.. sometimes your enemies worst enemy becomes your best friend too..

CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ - THE LEGEND
He founded the Hindu kingdom in the Deccan against all odds , fighting against the mighty Mughals. He inspired and united the common man to fight against the tyranny of Mughal ruler Aurangjeb, by inculcating a sense of pride and nationality in them.
At the age of 16, he took a pledge to establish a sovereign Hindu state. He clearly outstands all the rulers and generals of India by the exemplary life he lived and is thus respected by the entire cross section of Indians. Shivaji's military skills could be compared to those of Napolean.
He raised a strong army and navy, constructed and repaired forts, used gureilla warfare tactics, developed a strong intelligence network, gave equal treatment to the people from all religions and castes based on merit, and functioned like a seasoned Statesman and General. He appointed ministers with specific functions such as Internal security,Foreign affairs,Finance,Law and Justice,Religious matters,Defence etc.
He introduced systems in revenue collection and warned the officials against harassment of subjects. He thought ahead of times and was a true visionary. In his private life, his moral virtues were exceptionally high. His thoughts and deeds were inspired by the teachings of his mother Jijabai, teacher Dadaji Konddev, great saints like Dnyaneshwar & Tukaram and the valiancy and ideals of the Lords Rama and Krishna.
The tiny kingdom established by Chhatrapati Shivaji known as "Hindavi Swaraja" (Sovereign Hindu state) grew and spread beyond Attock in Northwest India (now in Pakistan)and beyond Cuttack in East India in course of time, to become the strongest power in India. After the death of Chhatrapati Shivaji & his son Sambhaji, their prime ministers or ‘the Peshwas' became the defacto rulers. The Peshwas and the Maratha Sardars (Chieftans) like Shindes of Gwalior, Gaekwads of Baroda & Holkars of Indore contributed to the growth of the Maratha Confederacy.
The history of India is incomplete without the history of Marathas and Shivaji is the nucleus of Maratha history. Shivaji has been a source of inspiration and pride to the past generations and will continue to inspire generations in future. We salute this legend and humbly dedicate this website to him.
Govindas form a human pyramid in this Shiv Sena (a regional poitical party in the state of Maharashtra )sponsored handi ( Pot ).Nowadays all the main handis are broken in the evening to prolong the event. Mean while groups of these Govindas form the human pyaramid without breaking the handi ( pot ) and earn little trophies throughout the day as Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray makes a strong point from the banner.

Shiv Sena (translation; Army of Shivaji) is an Indian far-right regional political party. Its ideology are based on Marathi nationalism and Hindu nationalism (Hindutva), founded on 19 June 1966 by political cartoonist Bal Thackeray.[6] The party originally emerged from a movement in Mumbai demanding preferential treatment for Maharashtrians over migrants to the city. It is currently headed by Thackeray's son, Uddhav Thackeray. Members of Shiv Sena are referred to as Shivsainiks.
Although the party's primary base is still in Maharashtra, it has tried to expand to a pan-Indian base. In the 1970s, it gradually moved from advocating a pro-Marathi ideology to one supporting a broader Hindu nationalist agenda,[7] as it aligned itself with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party started taking part in Mumbai (BMC) Municipal elections since its inception. In 1989, it entered an alliance with BJP for Lok Sabha as well as Maharashtra assembly elections, the latter of which was temporarily broken in October 2014 Assembly elections but it was undone soon and Shiv Sena became part of the BJP government in Maharashtra in December 2014. It has been a coalition partner in the National Democratic Alliance since 1998, including the Vajpayee Government during 1998–2004 and the present Narendra Modi Government.
Origins[edit]
After the Independence of India in 1947, regional administrative divisions from the colonial era were gradually changed and states following linguistic borders were created. Within the Bombay Presidency, a massive popular struggle was launched for the creation of a state for the Marathi-speaking people. In 1960, the presidency was divided into two linguistic states - Gujarat and Maharashtra. Moreover, Marathi-speaking areas of the erstwhile Hyderabad state were joined with Maharashtra. Mumbai, in many ways the economic capital of India, became the state capital of Maharashtra. On one hand, people belonging to the Gujarati community owned the majority of the industry and trade enterprises in the city.[18] On the other hand, there was a steady flow of South Indian migrants to the city who came to take many white-collar jobs.
In 1960 Bal Thackeray, a Mumbai-based cartoonist, began publishing the satirical cartoon weekly Marmik. Through this publication, he started disseminating anti-migrant sentiments. On 19 June 1966, Thackeray founded the Shiv Sena as a political organisation.
The Shiv Sena especially attracted a large number of unemployed Marathi youth, who were attracted by Thackeray's charged anti-migrant oratory. Shiv Sena cadres became involved in various attacks against the South Indian communities, vandalizing South Indian restaurants and pressuring employers to hire Marathis.[7]
Alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party[edit]
The Sena started placing more weight on the Hindutva ideology in the 1970s as the 'sons of the soil' cause was weakening.[19]
The party has been in coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for Lok Sabha as well as Maharashtra Assembly since 1989. The two formed a government in Maharashtra between 1995-1999.[20] The Sena was the opposition party in the state along with the BJP from 1999 to 2014. After the BJP won a plurality in the 2014 Assembly elections, the Sena declared that it would play the role of opposition but, after further negotiations, agreed to join the government in Maharashtra.[21] The Shiv Sena-BJP combine governs the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Traditionally the main strongholds of Shiv Sena have been Mumbai and the Konkan coastal areas. However, in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections the result was reversed. The Shiv Sena made inroads in the interior parts of the state, while suffering losses in Mumbai[citation needed].
Formation of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena[edit]
In July 2005, Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena leader Narayan Rane was expelled from the party, which sparked internal conflict in the party. In December the same year Raj Thackeray, Bal Thackeray's nephew, left the party.[22] Raj Thackeray later founded a new party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). After the split, clashes have occurred between followers of the two Senas.[citation needed]
Although the MNS is a break-away group from the Shiv Sena, the party is still based in Bhumiputra ideology. When unveiling the party in an assembly at Shivaji Park he said, everyone is anxious to see what will happen to Hindutva and, "I shall elaborate on the party's stance on issues like Hindutva, its agenda for development of Maharashtra and the significance of the party flag colours at the 19 March public meeting."[23]
Leadership change[edit]
Bal Thackeray's son Uddhav Thackeray became the party's leader in 2004, although Bal Thackeray continued to be an important figurehead. After the death of Bal Thackeray on 17 November 2012, Uddhav became the Pramukh (party leader). However, Uddhav has refused to take the "Pramukh" title.[24]
Party structure[edit]
As the Pramukh (Chief) of the party, Bal Thackeray took all major decisions while the activists and members of the Shiv Sena Shiv Sainiks carried out most of the party's grassroots work. During his last days, the day-to-day activities of the party were handled by his youngest son Uddhav Thackeray. Aditya Thackeray, son of Uddhav Thackeray, became the leader of the Yuva Sena, the Youth Wing of the party. After Bal thackerey's death in 2012, the party was de facto led by Uddhav Thackeray.[citation needed]
The Sena Bhavan located in the Dadar locality in Mumbai has served as the Headquarters of the Sena since 1976.[25] The Sena's shakhas (Branches) spread throughout the state of Maharashtra as well as in selected locations in other states, which decide on most of the local issues in their localities.[19]
The Sthaniya Lokadhikar Samiti[clarification needed] is affiliated with the Shiv Sena. It advocates the preservation of rights of employment for Maharashtrians in Maharashtra
