This is my view as I drive into Sheffield on my way home from work each evening. On this occasion I decided to stop and take a photograph.

My photographic endeavours this gloomy holiday weekend have been limited to this panoramic image taken on a phone in the Peace Gardens on the way to the cinema yesterday evening. In future I need to pay more attention to standing in the centre of the composition! Still, it looks OK despite all that.

The grand house in the background is divided up into private appartments, but it and the lake are rather lovely. It is currently water lily season and whilst a lower lake has many of them, this top lake has some large man made lilies.

The gardens at Sheffield Park ... most of the trees still need a week or so to change to their Autumnal colours.

This is 9 images stitched together in LR.

1951 Oaks Motel on Texas State Highway 290 and the 1920s Old Spanish Trail (OST) auto trail. The OST auto trail linked San Augustine, Florida and San Diego, California. What a drive that must have been! When I-10 was constructed in the 1960s, it bypassed Sheffield, and hurt the small town's economy. Thanks to oil and gas operations in the area and local ranching the town still supported 15 businesses in 2000. Most of those businesses are now gone.

The Tin Cup Cafe sits directly behind the tattered U.S. Flag, and is open 5 days a week for lunch and dinner. Check out their Pancho Burger.

Sheffield Park and Garden ist ein informeller Landschaftsgarten fünf Meilen östlich von Haywards Heath in East Sussex, England. Er wurde ursprünglich im 18. Jahrhundert von Capability Brown angelegt und im frühen 20. Jahrhundert von seinem damaligen Besitzer Arthur Gilstrap Soames als Waldgarten weiterentwickelt. Es ist jetzt im Besitz des National Trust.

Sheffield Park and Garden is an informal landscape garden five miles east of Haywards Heath in East Sussex, England. It was originally laid out in the 18th century by Capability Brown and further developed as a woodland garden in the early 20th century by its then owner, Arthur Gilstrap Soames. It is now owned by the National Trust.
