An after midnight panorama taken at a (at daytime) rather busy intersection of 5 roads:
淮海中路 Huaihai Middle Road
武康路 Wukang Road
兴国路 Xingguo Road
余庆路 Yuqing Road
天平路 Tianping Road
This is from the end of Wukang Road, corner to Xingguo Road, horizontal field of view is about 180°. Located at the border of Changning District (长宁区) and Xuhui District (徐汇区).
The building in the center is a famous apartment block in the former French Concession, at colonial times named "Normandie Apartments", nowadays it is mainly known as 武康大楼 "Wukang Mansion" resp. "Wukang Building" - Shanghai's "Flatiron".

And sorry, due to flickr's inability to properly save local language tags since late Sept. 2022 and no fix in sight (no UTF-8 support in tags, it appears only characters from the stone-age "Code Page 437" work correctly), the tags are incomplete - most Chinese tags do cause flickr's tag parser to create gibberish in the following tags.

Jin Mao Tower 金茂大厦,
SWFC 上海环球金融中心,
Shanghai Center 上海中心大厦 (aka Shanghai Tower).
The world's only group of three supertalls.
😁 I must have a gazillion of these shots, but the view is fascinating...

Not everywhere Shanghai is modern, bright and shiny...
This is a 180° panorama of Kongjia Nong (Kongjia Alley, 孔家弄), one of the many narrow alleys that make up the core of the old Shanghai.
This area around Laoximen (老西门) has it's own charm, though I recommend to visit it only if you are good at orientation without any maps, because many of these tiny alleys are not even on the Chinese maps - and it's a maze.
Unfortunately much of this will fall victim to urban redevelopment in the very near future.

Small and cute figurines, about 5 cm (2 inches) tall. Shop display in Tianzifang.
Tianzifang (Chin: 田子坊): this is an area of small narrow alleys or "nong" (弄) which has been redeveloped and now features arts shops, restaurants and bars and also enough souvenir shops to make it a one-stop shopping location on the hunt for the "typical" Chinese souvenir. Get hungry while souvenir hunting? 10 different countries feature their respective national cuisine...

Looking up along the big escalator over several floors in the main lobby of the IAPM shopping mall on Huaihai Rd.
I never understood if there's any meaning in these bulging things in the ceiling structures. Bubbles? Mammatus clouds?

Shanghai Xupu Bridge (徐浦大桥) the southernmost of Shanghai's huge bridges. A mini-panorama stitched from 2 shots, taken from the balcony of the apartment I was living at that time. The distance to the bridge is roughly 6,000 metres.
This shot would be impossible to do nowadays (2024), as more highrise apartment towers have been built in the line of sight during the past 19 years - these buildings block the view of the entire bridge, just the tops of the pylons could be seen.
Quite obviously another reactivated old shot, added some PP before republishing.

The twin towers of the IFC complex in Shanghai Pudong. Left is 2IFC, the right tower is the "new" HSBC Tower (the former HSBC Tower is now occupied by the Hang Seng Bank). The lower parts are occupied by the IFC Mall - and the underground Apple store. The "IFC" name and the style of the letters are same as Hong Kong's IFC - because it's the same Hong Kong based investor.
In the center the Shanghai Center peeks through, on the left the Bank of China tower leans in.

Shanghai - Exhibition Center. Built after the revolution with Russian help (one can see this from the architectural style). Located on Yan'An Road. Used for art exhibitions. Trade fairs are held at the new Pudong Exhibition Center (aka EXPO center, though it has nothing to do with the EXPO 2010).

And the muscle powered vehicle in front is just my bike...😁
This old steam locomotive was placed there as memorial to the time when the Xuhui riverside promenade and park (徐汇滨江公园) used to be a busy warehousing and cargo area.
The locomotive was made in 1987 by the Datong Locomotive Works (大同机车工厂). It is a 2-8-2 "JS" (建设, Jianshe = Construction), in the revised "B" specification, build no. 8145.
Of the "JS" in total 1,916 units were made in two production runs (not only at Datong), from 1957-1965 and again 1981 until the final end of production in 1988/9.
