Shane recently won the Class 3 title at the NABBA Universe contest and wanted some slightly different shots to show off his hard work.
Rather than just standard poses, he wanted to try some shots showing his size offset against the everyday.
So off we went to Briggate in Leeds on a busy Saturday morning!
It was great fun and it was hilarious watching the reactions from the public veered from fascination to disgust to fits of nervous giggles.
Using the new scanner to preserve some precious shots of my kids- this is Shane, when he was a little guy. He is my youngest.
Sunday was such a beautiful sunny day in London, so Anna, Shane, Davina, and I decided to spend the afternoon at Hampstead Heath. It's so lovely and magical there that you almost forget you're in a big city.

A second birthday party on the International Space Station, as we try to maintain a somehow normal social life even far from Earth! Our Russian colleagues decorated Node 1 (where we usually eat) with birthday balloons during the night, and we tried to come up with a few presents or surprises for Shane to wake up to. We even had Friday partly off, as we worked all weekend to unpack Spacex 22. It was a nice coincidence, but we like to pretend that it is now an official holiday: Shane’s day!!
Vendredi on a fêté le deuxième anniversaire de la mission sur la Station, où on essaye de maintenir autant que possible une vie sociale normale, même loin de la Terre ! Pendant la nuit nos collègues russes ont décoré le Node 1 (notre salle à manger habituelle) avec des ballons, et on a préparé quelques surprises et cadeaux avant que Shane se réveille. Par chance ce vendredi on avait un emploi du temps allégé, pour compenser le week-end intense qui nous attendait avec l’arrivée du cargo ravitailleur et toute la logistique que cela implique… De quoi faire de l’anniversaire de Shane un jour vraiment spécial :)

A typical view on the International Space Station's NASA Destiny laboratory. The legs sticking out are Shane's who was opening the shutters to admire the view after an exercise session. The window he is looking out looks straight down at Earth and when we fly over Europe it is often my legs sticking out :)
Une journée typique dans le cœur de l’ISS, le Lab (pour Laboratoire). Les pieds qui dépassent, c’est Shane qui profite de la fin de sa séance de sport pour entrouvrir les volets de la fenêtre qui donne à la verticale sous la station. Avant l’arrivée de la Cupola, c'était la seule qui montrait la Terre. Il arrive régulièrement qu’on voit une paire de jambes dépasser (et quand c’est un passage au-dessus de l’Europe, ce sont souvent les miennes :))
