Day 11 of 365 (Year Three)

The other day I blogged about some of my goals for this new year as they pertain to photography. One of those goals was to start entering some of my work into photo competitions. I don't really care if they are local competitions, national or international and I don't really care if they are juried or not. I just wanted to get my stuff out there and see what kind of feedback I'd get.

It is eleven days into the new year and I can check this goal off of my list. I entered the Baker Artist Awards, which is a local competition for residents/artists in the Baltimore area. I don't plan on making this the first and only competition that I enter, so even though this particular goal has been checked off it isn't the end.

Speaking of the Baker Artist Awards, part of the competition is based on votes from the visitors to the web site. If you like my stuff and would like to vote for me, please visit my voting page and send me some love by casting your vote. You can do that here. I know it is a shameless plug, but what the hell, I could use the support! Thanks, in advance, to all of you who choose to do so!

A few friends of mine just opened a new coffee shop called "12 Corners" in Downtown Manhattan. It's small, but cozy. Coffee is great and pastries are awesome. Please come by to check it out if you're ever in the area :)

PS: My Pen-F 38/1.8 fixed itself :O No joke. I took a look at it today and the diaphragm was working again! :D

Apparently, these little things are simply overrunning my neighborhood. They are everywhere, it seems. In any case, they are a good challenge to try to shoot before they fly away. There's not much to say here other than the fact that I've taken shots of these before.

Oh, I can tell you about Twitter and Facebook! You know, look me up. Just search for "filmandfocus" all in one word and my Twitter and Facebook show up. You won't see anything too new but social media blah blah blah. Hey, look. I've filled up some space!

Yesterday my band was putting some final touches to our soon to be released album...We were working on a song called Country Living and had put some ambient sounds of cows in the background but we hit a few problems when I started to layer up some backing vocals on the top ...check out this little video to see what goes on in a recording studio...a very funny moment with an out of tune moo! Must remember, never to work with animals!

Hehe, listening to Will.i.am <3

So... *sigh*

This is my pink app.

Yeah I said no more contests. But I cracked =___=

I cracked big time, man, lol.

It's so... shiney and ... PINK! haha.

Um...

Nyanne got a makeover. Kudos to you if you remember her XD

It's really more like a complete face-life surgery type thing, though. I just kinda opened bodyshop and was like "hey, i remember her! I'mma screw her face up >:D"

I think she looks better though. = 3=

So be happy, Nyanne, with your lovely new button nose and golden-brown eyes. heh.

I don't know where she's originally from.

And I'm supposed to know for the app X]

Any ideas? I'm thinking she looks kinda asian and maybe half white?

IDK D;

Life is ... life. Stressful and such.

But, Spring Break's coming up soon! 8D

*counts down the days*

I seriously can't wait. I need sleep. I realized the other day that I get about 8 hours of continuous sleep ONCE a week. That, my friends, is not healthy. I am a young girl. I need my beauty sleep. Which would explain ... yeah, I won't finish that sentence XD

Yay for rambling~

BUTUTBUTTT.

I stopped being lazy and started up a blog over at Scribblers. So now I can dump MORE of my babble there. Shall be fun. So go check it out. = 3=

Hmmm ladedaaa.

I'm just going to skip off into my world of denial now where I think that I have time for contests and a billion other activities and shitloads of hw.

Yayyy :D

Good evening,

I am pleased to announce that Adventures in A Cappella, the debut album by Prichard Nixon (my musically-inclined alter ego), has been released via Bandcamp (cue triumphant background music.)

This album is the result of weeks of endless effort inside the studio, and unremitting coalition-building outside of it. Seeing this album from conception to completion has been a gratifying experience, and I am pleased that these songs are finally seeing the light of day.

(That, and it's Bandcamp Friday, which means 100% of revenue from sales goes directly to yours truly. #ShamelessPlug)

Give the album a spin at prichardnixon.bandcamp.com/ and let me know what you think.

These stickers come courtesy of Ryan Porter from Sticker Guy! in Sparks, Nevada. I have been including them in electronic press kits sent to radio stations all over the Greater Coachella Valley, as well as slipping them into care packages heading out to Texas, a state which has been making recent headlines for all the wrong reasons.

If you are interested in getting your hands on some, drop me a line and I will include your name on the short-list of outgoing packages.

Thank you and much love. Stickers + music = living the good life.

If you enjoy my photos, please feel free to sponsor me for Ride London in August. Your donations will make a difference to disabled children who need wheelchairs and equipment to improve their lives. Thanks!

I finally redesigned the website and it's now up and running! New section I'm happy to unveil: Books! Take a look around, click on all the fun clickables, see if everything is working correctly...

This intro page has only a few things different than the first version, but the redesign is all about the rest of the site found within.

New Youtube channel: Dino Video!

Main channel: here!

If anybody here could help us out by rating, commenting, subscribing, that would be sweet! Even if you don't like it at all. Just a little help. A boost. Helping hand and whatnot...

Dang. It's been so long since I've been on flickr that I'd almost forgotten how to upload a pic! :-/

~ I have no info about the texture used here, other than "alphabet soup." My apologies to the creator of this lovely texture.

Sometimes I get so wrapped in creating stuff to wear that I forget the original reason I started making stuff. The inspiration bug bit me for this one. It is using my new Pollie skin and Gracious eyes. I miss taking photos!

HEY GUYS

So I just wanted to update you on a few things, pretty much all BrickCon related but still.

First I have some sad news regarding BrickCon actually, earlier I have been talking to Ragnarock about displaying Metal Gear REX at BrickCon. He Decided he would rather I didn’t(hopefully only until He gets a chance to show his himself), and I respect him too much to just go ahead and do it anyways, so REX won’t be making an appearance.

But all is not lost! I still have plenty to bring other than REX!

My Monkeylords of Supreme Commander Fame will be present, saddly I don't think I'll have the money to finish my Diorama in time(which is too bad in a couple of ways) cause its looking pretty awesome. I could be able to afford it if I get some sales over at my BrickLink Store! *Cough*ShamelessPlug*Cough*

I've also finally been able to finish off my Gundams!(See above) Its been a longtime in coming, and while I think I have a few adjustments I want to make to a couple of them, all in all I think they turned out very nice and I just can't wait until I get to spend an hour(or more D:) posing them at BrickCon!

I’ve also built Rolling Thunder, my Tank-Mecha Hybrid based on the Armored Core V Trailer, but like my planned Supreme Commander Diorama I don’t think I’ll have the money to finish this guy unless I get killer sales at my BrickLink Store *Cough*ShamelessPlug*Cough* It’ll be just the the Vehicles this time around.

I'll also have a plethora of Micro Mechas, including my Gigaton, Torrent and more!

I've also completed the Design for my Steel Coffin Exo-Suit, and while its totally awesome(I think so at least >.>) I don't think I'll be able to get the parts until after BrickCon.

Otherwise if theres any requests from my stream for me to bring to BrickCon let me know!

Lastly(I promise!) does anyone know some good set ups for taking photos? My lack of a setup and my crappy ass crap camera force me to take pics only during the early-to mid afternoon time frames of the colors get waaaay outta whack beyond even Photoshop’s capabilities! Once BrickCon takes place I’ll prolly get serious about taking better pics of everything.

Anyways guys, thanks for your time,

Mike

so much for dark and dramatic:)

I am so chuffed to announce that our debut album with SUN DOG DAYS, 'Levels' has finally arrived and is now available to buy @ £10 plus p&p. This gets you over 70 minutes of original music inspired by the Somerset Levels and an 8 page full colour booklet brimming with photographs I have taken out on the moor.

The c.d. is available on line via our website @ www.sundogdays.co.uk/album/

Here's a link to a track called River Brue Blues. (That's easy for you to say!)

soundcloud.com/sundogdays/river-brue-blues-album-version

We used this picture for the album cover.

I took this photo with my little Panasonic Lumix TZ5 compact camera back in January 2012..it was minus 3 degrees..It had been a freezing fog and I stood shivering on the bridge over the River Brue as the sun rose burning away the mists and painting colour into the silver grey..It was a beautiful morning....and then I went back to bed!

....but I am still working on it. Lots of stuff that needs to be done here.

This is one of the reasons why I've been so sparse in the Flickr world.

Ermm...yes...excuses again.

Oh and don't mind the gazillion buttons and minimized windows in this screenshot, ok? :-P

P.S.

Thank you to my hubby who did the Flash animation for me and figured out how to work the gallery script! (I'm to lazy to learn how...LOL!)

i took this photo at the library, where i was refreshing the supply of my mom's cards that i put up there and on other bulletin boards.

my mom sells vintage women's clothing. while she has stuff from many eras, she's particularly well-stocked with quality 1950s pieces.

these items are all vegan:

... incidentally, i made the site and business cards for her. the site was my first (and only, so far) web shop. anyone know of more user-friendly free tools than zen cart, for e-commerce sites?

A shameless plug for yet another outlet for my creative urges.

In a world where we are all pushed for time, 'flash fiction' is booming. This blog is filled with tales, all just 55 words long.

Come and visit, or better, submit a story of your own!

FIFTY5WORDS

...Seriously, they do.

I made them up from their private label brand biscuits and vienna sausage, and they taste just as good. (Even with off-brand mustard!)

Just some sound advice for these trying times.

Now, I need to get ready to harvest some lemons... ^_^;

It's the weekly Takara Appreciation Day again; and today, I'd like to introduce you to my newest Takara girl, Charlie. :D

I'm keeping her identity a secret till the Victorian State Meet on saturday, but gosh, I'm so glad to finally have her in my family! It's been more than a year since I'd had any new Takara join the family, but I thought it was about time one did. (I also won GR in the lottery, but I'm not quite sure about her yet.)

And the bag you see? Well, it's stuffed full of party favours for the meet. Quite a decent amount, no? Charlie's have a little rummage, but she's not allowed to keep anything! :D

After illustration by R. Crumb of Kafka's novel, "The Castle" (fountain pen)

I arrived home this evening to find a small gift from my mother for setting up the new website for her new art gallery in North Devon.

Not bad considering I didn't expect anything in return for helping family.

(You can't see it from the lame N95 photo but that picture frame logo has spot UV overlay which really finishes off the postcards and business cards perfectly. Kudos to my sister for her design skills.)

Study for illustrations of Manto's "TobaTek Singh"

after her self portrait ... proportions are all whacked! :(

So I spend most of my online time on Facebook these days.

One of my Facebook friends clued me into Swag Bucks. You use their site as a search engine and are randomly awarded 'swag bucks'. I usually get two a day. There are other ways to earn:

*Finding codes on the blog,

* Referrals

*Trading in old cell phones, MPS players, video games and consoles

*Shopping through their 'Shop & Earn' program.

(I bought Rose a twin bed on the Walmart website and earned 45 swag bucks.)

Then you trade in your 'pretend money' for real items - I've been getting amazon gift cards, but there are comic books, video games, T shirts, posters, electronics, music downloads - lots of stuff.

So this is a not-so-subtle plug to go check it out! Who doesn't like free stuff?!?! :)

he looks diff from the drawing.. that's what happens when you draw with a damn gouge!
