A bright summer morning on one of the most famous landmarks in Samarkand.

The mausoleums in Sha-i-Zinda, Samarkand.

Shah-i-Zinda is a necropolis in the north-eastern part of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Thank you all for kind suggestions, comments and favorites. Enjoy, Mario.

This village called Bhuman Shah is in the Jurisdiction of P.S. and Tehsil Dipalpur of district Okara. It is located at a distance of 24 kilometers from Dipalpur on Dipalpur-Haveli Lakha road. According to Bhai Kahan Singh Ji, Dashmesh Ji had given blessing to Bhai Bhuman, Shah that his langar would continue serving.

The shrine is built in the style of a big fort and inside this fort-like structure the Gurdwara of Baba Sri Chand, residence of Baba Bhuman Shah , the Samadh of various Mahants are located alongwith hundreds of rooms for visitors, langarkhana and the tank.

There are four big gates to enter this shrine and the walls are decorated with colourful pictures the sayings of Gurus. More than 1000 Ghumaon of agricultural land is endowed to shrine. This building is now in charge of the Evacuee Waqf Board. The present condition of the building is miserable, the walls have developed cracks and the roofs have collapsed. In case this building collapses in the time to come an invaluable treasure of art will also be destroyed with it.

I've always loved the profile of this pointy rock at Ramshaw. It had more white lichen on it than I had remembered it having when I lived in these parts. Wish I had had time to meet up with friends, but I easily forget people have jobs to do. A hot mug of coffee and a natter would have been nice though if I had been welcome

Look up with music on

The Shah-i-Zinda Ensemble includes mausoleums and other ritual buildings of 9-14th and 19th centuries. The name Shah-i-Zinda (meaning "The living king") is connected with the legend that Kusam ibn Abbas, the cousin of the prophet Muhammad was buried there. As if he came to Samarkand with the Arab invasion in the 7th century to preach Islam. Popular legends speak that he was beheaded for his faith. But he took his head and went into the deep well (Garden of Paradise), where he's still living now.

The Shah-i-Zinda complex was formed over eight (from 11th till 19th) centuries and now includes more than twenty buildings.

The Shah Alam Mosque located in the Shah Alam. I was there with Ariffin yesterday.

Note: I'm rushing to my in-laws now, so have a great week my friends! One more thing, the new Flickr mobile interface is somewhat buggy and preventing me from commenting on your photos. I think I'll switch back to the old Flickr mobile interface.
