Zermatt
Am Ende des 30 km langen Nikolaitales, an der italienischen Grenze des Westschweizer Kantons Wallis, liegt Zermatt, das Dorf am Fusse des Matterhorns, dem meistfotografierten Berg der Welt. Für unsere Gäste aus dem Ausland repräsentiert Zermatt die Schweiz: hochalpin, erhaben und ursprünglich. Gornergrat
Mit seiner sonnigen, ganzjährig erreichbaren Aussichtsplattform zählt der Gornergrat auf 3’089 m ü.M. seit 111 Jahren zum Top-Ausflugsziel der Schweiz. Das Panorama gilt als eines der schönsten: Monte Rosa Massiv mit dem höchsten Schweizer Berg (Dufourspitze auf 4'634 m ü.M.), mit Blick auf den zweitgrössten Gletscher der Alpen, dem Gornergletscher, sowie auf 29 4000er - alles zum Greifen nah. Die höchste im Freien angelegte Zahnradbahn Europas, mit der Sie den Gornergrat erreichen, startet direkt am Zermatter Bahnhof, von wo sie an 365 Tagen im Jahr im 24-Minuten-Takt den Berg erklimmt - über eindrucksvolle Brücken, durch Galerien und Tunnels, idyllische Wälder und Alpwiesen, vorbei an Steinschluchten und Gebirgsseen. Am Ziel erwartet Sie das höchstgelegene Hotel der Schweiz, 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat. Mit Restaurant, Sternwarte, Shopping-Mall. Die Übernachtung ist ein Erlebnis.

Three brothers enjoying the end of summer in Key West. When I shot it I thought it was going to look like a time lapse photo and it does.
The Stranglers headlined the Glasgow Bandstand in Kelvingrove on Saturday night along with DC Ruts. While the Paisley / Glasgow band the Vanities, who won a battle of the bands and the right to open the Stranglers event.
And though the evening turned cloudy with a heavy spell of rain during the DC Ruts set and set members of the audience clambering for their brollies and waterproofs. Though there was no way this heavy down pour was going to spoil what turned out to be cracking night and what was an excellent DC Ruts set.
The Vanities line up where Alan Hannah on vocal, guitar and harmonica along with Josh Carmichael on drums, Robin Brown on Guitar and vocal with Lewis Blakeman on Bass. Of whom where over the moon they had the chance of performing with legendary stranglers whose set was just as amazing as the rest along with the banter the band had with the fan.
Though after the show I never managed to snap a shot of the band along with Jean-Jacques Burnel of the Stranglers and who the band where hoping to get up close and person with. They did manage themselves and no doubt this only added to what was a great night out in Kelvingrove for all.
