A little set of images of Rugby School facade [facing the Rugby Gyratory road system] and including the statue depicting William Webb Ellis picking up the ball and running with it and in doing so inventing the game of Rugby Football - Very apt in 2015 as the Rugby World Cup is coming home to England.
The set was an exercise for the first 10-15 minutes of a photo course being run at the nearby Percival Guildhouse and just because the evening light was just right highlighting the brickwork of the school. Part of the task was to exclude as much non-wanted stuff as possible (like cars, rubbish bins, flag poles, people walking past, litter, etc.
I have some issues with this one - overall, it ended up looking more edited than I usually prefer, but I got too frustrated trying to fix one thing and then another so I've decided it's done. But I still love the location and the concept.
This is a hiking trail about 5 mins from my house, and the first time I went for a hike on my own, I was so nervous about bears that I carried a sharp stick around with me. I guess I was thinking of zombies. Anyway, I kept the stick and used it in a photo.
The Stranglers headlined the Glasgow Bandstand in Kelvingrove on Saturday night along with DC Ruts. While the Paisley / Glasgow band the Vanities, who won a battle of the bands and the right to open the Stranglers event.
And though the evening turned cloudy with a heavy spell of rain during the DC Ruts set and set members of the audience clambering for their brollies and waterproofs. Though there was no way this heavy down pour was going to spoil what turned out to be cracking night and what was an excellent DC Ruts set.
The Vanities line up where Alan Hannah on vocal, guitar and harmonica along with Josh Carmichael on drums, Robin Brown on Guitar and vocal with Lewis Blakeman on Bass. Of whom where over the moon they had the chance of performing with legendary stranglers whose set was just as amazing as the rest along with the banter the band had with the fan.
Though after the show I never managed to snap a shot of the band along with Jean-Jacques Burnel of the Stranglers and who the band where hoping to get up close and person with. They did manage themselves and no doubt this only added to what was a great night out in Kelvingrove for all.

was fortunate to see the hopper collection by mat stuart at the huntington theatre on tuesday evening, courtesy of mit's office of the arts.
beautiful venue, and awesome theatre. go and see the show if you can get tickets, the modern design of the set is to die for.
the plot basically revolves around this painting.
For the Doll Festival on March 3rd, the main tradition is to set out these beautiful dolls on a stand covered in red cloth. These top few tiers hold the emperor and empress (1), the empress's ladies in waiting (2) and the musicians (3).

It is a tradition feed animals or set some animals free after going to a Wat (temple) on Sundays. An entire cottage industry has sprung up to service this practice, selling small fishes, eels, turtles, and food for the these animals outside the Wats that are located on rivers. These people are throwing fish pellets, and pieces of bread into the Chao Praya river to feed the fishes. The pigeons decided that they too could benefit from this practice and so they have gotten into the act. This picture was taken on the Thonburi side of the Chao Praya River (on the West side of the river).
