For Valentine's Day at work, we set up a photo booth and invited individuals and couples to pose for photos. As you can see in these photos, people had a great time posing both for relatively traditional portraits and also dressing up with costumes or striking fun poses. You've got to love the creativity of park rangers!
It was an interesting challenge for me, as a photographer, to try to get good pictures with only the limited light resources I had available, i.e., a single 430EX off-camera flash shot through an umbrella to soften the light. Yes, we had a big picture window with indirect natural light, but it was far too dim to be of effective use, and the lights in the community building are notoriously low for camera work. I think we mostly succeeded in spite of the difficulty, though I had to switch out batteries early on because they weren't high powered enough, leading to too much variability in the flaash power, and were dangerously overheating when I took them out. The Enloop rechargeables got warm but did a much better job of keeping up with the demand. In future, I would want to improve this lighting setup in two ways: first, with a second light camera-right to balance the one we had camera-left, and to help with the lighting load; and second, with a bit of a hair light to provide separation between the dark hair and the dark background (though some of this was helped by having the subjects stand farther in front of the backdrop, thus providing greater differential between the lighting of each).

That clear plastic stick allows Watto to fly above the fray and judge everybody like the avenging angel he probably could be if he wasn't a slave-owner! Also, look closely: KITSTER.

The Stranglers headlined the Glasgow Bandstand in Kelvingrove on Saturday night along with DC Ruts. While the Paisley / Glasgow band the Vanities, who won a battle of the bands and the right to open the Stranglers event.
And though the evening turned cloudy with a heavy spell of rain during the DC Ruts set and set members of the audience clambering for their brollies and waterproofs. Though there was no way this heavy down pour was going to spoil what turned out to be cracking night and what was an excellent DC Ruts set.
The Vanities line up where Alan Hannah on vocal, guitar and harmonica along with Josh Carmichael on drums, Robin Brown on Guitar and vocal with Lewis Blakeman on Bass. Of whom where over the moon they had the chance of performing with legendary stranglers whose set was just as amazing as the rest along with the banter the band had with the fan.
Though after the show I never managed to snap a shot of the band along with Jean-Jacques Burnel of the Stranglers and who the band where hoping to get up close and person with. They did manage themselves and no doubt this only added to what was a great night out in Kelvingrove for all.

APPROXIMATE RELEASE DATE: 2013-2015
IMPORTANT NOTES: This set was originally packaged with the book Bitty Bear's Sprinkler Splash. My outfit did not come with this book since it was leftover stock that was in the American Girl website's clearance section.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: This is my second Bitty Baby swimsuit. I'll admit, that the one I had growing up looked more flattering on my dolls. That's of course because it covered up their silly looking cloth bodies. Honestly, American Girl dolls look really awkward in swimsuits! I found this for I believe about 50% off on Cyber Monday 2015. I couldn't resist adding another summer themed outfit to my collection. Since I have three Bitty Baby dolls (at the time I'm writing this), it can be hard to dress all three in seasonally appropriate attire. Twiggy is the model in this outfit, and she looks absolutely darling in it! I especially love how the floppy hat looks with her ensemble. It's really a shame that this outfit would look downright ridiculous on display most of the year, because I am absolutely in love with it!
