Area children ages 6 to 13 are spending the next three weeks on a virtual global journey with BU’s inaugural World Languages and Cultures Camp, which continues on campus through July 3. BU’s Department of Languages and Cultures is presenting weekly camps on Chinese, Spanish and Arabic where the children are learning some language basics and enjoying related cultural activities. bloomu.edu/languages-cultures #SenseOfCommunity
Author, broadcast journalist and motivational speaker, John Quiñones spoke on campus for the annual MLK Jr. Commemorative Celebration in Carver Hall's Gross Auditorium and is open free to the public. Quiñones has worked in different capacities at ABC News since 1982, working on programs such as 20/20, Good Morning America, Nightline and most notably as an anchor on ABC World News Tonight. To cap their Public Health and Community work this semester, a group of Bloomsburg University nursing majors recently helped Montour County become a little healthier.
The semester project involved a health promotion initiative specifically targeting older adults. The class chose Montour County and studied county data to determine the biggest health issues for the community. bloomu.edu/nursing #SenseOfCommunity
