broken heart - [CLOUDS zine]

This cloud project is very personal to me. In a way, I feel it tells my own life story without words. To me, my story often feels unspeakable, as though there are no words to adequately express it. And what I see in these images can be very relatable to the experience of my own story—the pain, the layers of traumatic experiences, the struggles, the fear, the unknown, the chaos, the isolation, the tears, the intensity, the terror, the abandonment, the victory, the moments of peacefulness, the long, rewarding journey of healing, the unpredictability, the storms, the heartbreak, the ever-changing circumstances, the encouragement, the connection, the hope, the beauty, the promise, the reminder that it won’t last forever at this same intensity and so much more that I’m unable to express in words. Near the middle of the collection I placed an image that is very important and meaningful to me. From the moment I first saw this cloud formation it reminded me of a broken heart—my own broken heart. I was compelled to try to capture what I saw. This image and personal concept—my own broken heart along with the intense and deeply rewarding road of working to heal and recover—is what has inspired this photo project and my desire to print these images.

Dear good people of Flickrland! I'm super excited ~and honored~ that a book I made, "one in eight." is a People's Choice Award nominee-finalist in the Documentary category for Blurb's Photo Book Now contest. There are lots of great books in four different categories: Documentary, Travel, Fine Art & Student. I hope you'll consider voting for my book (look for the all-pink cover!) or any of the other wonderful books in any of the categories. (You are allowed one vote in each category.) Thanks so much, and all the best to all of the contestants!

To make it a wee bit easier to cast your vote, here's a direct link to the PBN Documentary category finalists:

(You do have to 'create an account' by giving them an email address, and for that extra step I do apologize... But I hope it won't deter you from voting!)

Just walking through. A small book of street photography and candid portraits I just had printed. I am quite proud of this book. I feel candid and Street photography is one of the most stressful complex and rewarding forms of image making.

Printed book of digitally altered photos, with included CD of Djll music. Coming in January 2023.

If you've ever been to Peter Luger's Steakhouse in Brooklyn you're lucky.

If you ever get to go, and are there at lunch make sure you order a cheeseburger because it will be one of the best you'll ever have. Made with cuts of their dry-aged beef and cooked at a medium-rare temperature with a nice char on the outside, the burger is covered with steaming American cheese and topped with a thin slice of raw white onion then placed on their propriety bun.

I'm a quest to self-publish a big beautiful book of American restaurants and would love your support. Check out this link to my Kickstarter which is running and already has 25 backers, but we need more: www.kickstarter.com/projects/americanrestaurant/american-...

"Dark Is The Other Side Of Life" is a collection of my darkest images inspired by the poetry of a famous Polish poet-Halina Poswiatowska which encompasses the motifs of love, solitude and death.

North-Vietnam, 2000 - Leica M4, Summilux 35, Kodak Tri-X

It was so great to travel off the beaten track in the extreme North of Vietnam where there were so few tourists. The nice peasant knew at once that I was an overseas Vietnamese traveller; he spontaneously smiled and kindly invited me to climb into his wooden chariot drawn by a peaceful buffalo for a friendly drive. We slowly left the small village and crossed this unsteady rope bridge. It was real fun with wonderful compatriots who heartfully welcomed me back home. I then decided to selfpublish the atypical photobook on the Vietnamese people entitled Vietnamese We - Người Việt Nam chúng tôi - Nous autres Vietnamiens that was released eleven years later in Dec. 2011.

One night over a few beers, Guus Helms, the only photographer I met in person through Flickr, enthused me for producing photo books.

The series I made late last year in the Philippines finally gave me the idea that I had a coherent selection that could indeed be turned into a book.

While I let my photos "marinate", I checked out some local masters' books for inspiration about editing and layout, which I enhanced with a workshop about photo editing by Edie Peters. This led to the dummy version you see here, surrounded by some works that I "consulted".

Hopefully, the final dummy version is currently printed. The 58-page book will be on sale through Blurb at cost price, with a mark-up of a few euros. That money will be used in full to support some of the kind but poor slum dwellers depicted on some of the pages in the book. All photos - and more - will be shown here as well.

A small photo essay from the Football Lads Alliance March Against Extremism that took place in Central London, October 2017. You can view, download a free copy or purchase a print copy at:

One of my photos taken in Nevada's Valley of Fire was selected by author/photographer Daniel A. Gillaspia for inclusion in his digital publication Hidden Gems of the Western United States.

It's selling on Amazon for the incredibly low price of $4.99 (it's not in book form at this stage.)

Daniel is donating 25% of the profits from sales of this e-book to the National Park Foundation to benefit programs that help children gain access to national parks.

There's nothing in it for me, but I have to say it's THE BEST source of information for those going on a week-long holiday or for those retired folks who want to know the places to go in the western part of the country.

High-res E-Mags of my work now available for sale at antihero.company.site

and my site at www.toddfollett.com

Any support is massively appreciated!

Received my newest paperback and was so happy with it that I'd like to give away for free a copy.

Unfortunately this is only available to US costumers of Amazon. The book will be the English version, not the German that shown here.

Edit: forgot to say this giveaway is valid until Apr 4, 2017

Edit 2: Giveaway over, congratulations to the winner!
