Why spend all that money on security alarm systems to keep your house safe from intruders, when you can just grow vines.

I know some of you will say, “just get a dog to protect your property.” Which is on the whole a decent suggestion, but what about Chihuahuas or other small dogs, who could be stepped on. Also, there are those really friendly dogs, who would lick an intruder and sit for a treat with tail wagging.

No! I am afraid the best solution is vines or briars.

How many robbers have the wherewithal to carry a chainsaw with them. They would just pass you by.

This house is so well protected that they can leave their door open a crack without fear of a break in.

From Wilshire Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles, California.

I had a wander around London today and couldn't resist the way the light was playing on this security guard.

Photo taken outside the Globe Theatre.

Just across the river Irwell (bottom of the picture) is the Greengate area of the City of Salford; I took this picture from the Manchester side of the river. An estimated £950 million of investment was planned for building work between 2016 and 2020 with a further £900 million between 2020 and 2026. The Greengate area sits in the heart of Salford where the vision for the future, as far ahead as 2040, is for it to become a distinctive place to live, work and to attract visitors. These building sit on the site of the old Manchester Exchange Railway Station; even thought it was in Salford. From 16 April 1929, Exchange Station had a platform link to the adjacent Victoria Station, (which is still in use today and is in Manchester), thus creating Europe's longest platform at 2,238 feet (682 m); it could accommodate three trains at once.

Five minutes before I took this I was asked to stop taking pictures of the two buildings centre and right, by security. I asked why and was told I was standing on private land. I was on the bridge to the right of the image, so I stepped off the bridge onto Victoria Street and took this picture. Now standing on public land in Manchester I can now take a picture legally; how stupid is that?

This Currawong was on watch, making sure everything was safe.

Perched high on a rocky cliff, the lighthouse lights the way in stormy weather and at night, alerting sailors to the danger of the nearby shore. As dramatic as this can be on a stormy night, the scene is peaceful and unspectacular in the warm light of the summer sun.

Seville Santa Justa Train Station - Seville(Sevilla) Spain. I had no tripod so the ISO is a little high on this photo, but with the D610 it still did a pretty good job capturing the detail.

I shot of a lock on a very old gate. The lock made for an interesting shot against the old fence.

I found a very nice dark window in the Moorgate area of London. Sadly the security noticed me straightaway and gave me the evil stare! I hung around just enough to get 3 shots and to annoy them further. Shortly after, they discreetly ushered me away. Cat and Mouse springs to mind. I don't usually post up 3 pictures at a time, but this make a nice mini series.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.

Night time photo of a convenience store on the south side of Houston Texas. I am experimenting with how my photos look when I use the highest ISO setting (16000) on my camera. Photo was taken with a Canon 80D with a 18-135 mm lens, with some post-processing.

What's this- me adding additional light!? It just doesn't seem proper.

It was a very, very dark night by the time we had retreated halfway down the building. To get a sense of the room at all, the ever handy Michael did some light painting with my (rapidly overheating) torch. At the sea-facing side of the building we felt safe to create light. At the 'front' side however, we hid in the darkness as we realised we were in full view of a lady looking out of her window. Please don't call the police!, I hoped.

These wide windows were rather oppressive in the standard rooms but here (not sure what this room was) the open space made great use of an entire wall of windows. The landscape stretched out all the way across - it was really interesting.

I passed ..I am happy for that specialy with this years tecnical and hives of obstucals!
