My first location in my editorial series for Asian history month is China! My grandma has a ming dynasty vase she displays in their home. I've seen it my entire childhood. She doesn't know if it's real, but that doesn't matter to her. She treats it as if it is.
My series is high fashion inspired by things that my grandparents own and love. Things they've shared with us and taught us about. My paternal grandparents are both Korean and never treated us any different because we were biracial. They protected us in a country that was unfamiliar with us, and I'll forever be grateful for that. And so this series is dedicated to them

This year on Halloween I didn't feel like dressing up scary or slashery, not after the year we had so far. Somehow my mind went back in time to my first hero. A girl in a story I read as a kid, and the music of the movies they made out of it. Astrid Lindgren, a swedish novelist, wrote the Adventures of Pippi Långstrump (dt: Pippi Langstrumpf, eng: Pippi Lonstocking) with so much sass and fun, I was addicted to them. And we all need, I think, some of that spirit and positivity now again. So what's better than counter 2020 with her?
