This car is just sitting inside one of the abandoned buildings at Elderado Canyon (as per my last pic). I just love all that chrome!!!!
I first became aware of Elderado Canyon through the work of Jim Sage on Flickr ( www.flickr.com/photos/cowboyphotoslv/ ). When I knew I was going out to Neveda I got un touch with the owners and arranged to go out ealy one morning, it was an early start but sooooo worth it!!!

The Trona Pinnacles in Trona California. Good dark sky's can still be found here. I can't seem to stay away from this location. There are no fear of animals or insects as nothing lives here. Fear only the humans which is always the concern.

Shortly after sunrise a Livingston based helper set pushes a Loaded Oil Can out of West Livingston, Montana on the morning of May 6, 2022.
After a frusturating chase of the Night Gas on the 10th Sub the sun finally broke through west of Paradise creating some impressive storm light in the golden hour. After getting talked by the red board at East Plains the gas local eases past the NP era searchlights and into the siding behind another westbound to meet an eastbound grain.
Northern Pacific-era cantilever searchlight signals on Montana Rail Link are an endangered species this year. MRL is currently resignaling its railroad as part of its conversion to PTC. The lone cantilever at Townsend got new signals placed alongside it in early July. Others wait for a while longer before the signal crews arrive. Under a dome of stars in a clear sky, the classy searchlights at Tuscor, Montana, beam their colors for a distant westbound train on July 5, 2022. The high-wide detector in the distance is lit up red by the eastbound signal at West Tuscor.

looking West towards Trofarth from the front of my home in Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales, just as the sun disappeared behind the distant hillside with the sun's rays - creating this 'Searchlight Effect' with distinctive silhouettes too.
It's something of distant memory though, considering the subsequent gales, heavy and incessant rain we've had. Including today, since taking this shot, we've had five 'Amber Weather Warnings' for incessant and heavy rain with further flooding risks.
All I can say is thank goodness for the land drains under our bungalow which abuts the adjacent, sloping and draining hillside.
At one stage, last week, it rained continuously for 48 hours and in fact the rain is again 'Hammering Down' whilst posting this.
Luckily we're still safe and sound. I very much hope you are too.
What was thought to be an early morning southbound run to Toronto was pushed back account the derailment on the CP Parry Sound Sub for meets the whole trip down. So here is 40B minus CEO Keith Creel splitting the searchlights north of Bolton following CP 118 into the siding to meet CP 119 coming out of Vaughan.

Searchlight Signal Saturday. An eastbound WC freight passes the SOO Line-era signals east of the siding at Nelsons on the Neenah Subdivision. These signals had just over a year of service left along with the supporting code line and associated poles.

ST RUPO jumps on the Freight Main Line, known as the "Back Road" during the Maine Central, passing the decommissioned searchlight at the west end of Leeds Junction.
This was the scene looking West towards Trofarth at 19.00pm last night from the elevated frontage of my home in Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales, taken hand held with a Canon EFS 24-70mm Ultrasonic lens at 70mm.
Just as the sun disappeared below the horizon, with its ray's being diffused by the several Cumulus Clouds still above it, this laser/searchlight effect with distinctive silhouettes resulted.
There was aslo a strong North Westerly Onshore Air Current passing over from the distant Irish Sea bringing with it much lower and smaller scattered Cumulus Clouds. As they passed through the suns' rays, at varying heights, it was akin to a 'Volcanic Eruption - as they appeared to be blasted upwards.
Headlights dimmed as a courtesy to Y110 switching the north end of the the yard, grain loads approach Coldwater Road.

While chasing the Pan Am business train was not in our plan when word circulated that it was indeed running from Portland to Ayer, Massachusetts Brian and I made our plans to chase with little experience of the area. During the end of the chase while the train worked through several 10mph slow orders we came across this interlocking by pure accident. As a big signal fan getting this train here near Willows was one of the bigger highlights of our trip.

A pleasant spring afternoon finds original L&N SD40-2 no. 8014 leading M427 under the B&M-era searchlights at CPF 312 in Littleton, MA, formerly Willows East Interlocking. In a few months this will become the division point between CSX and Berkshire & Eastern ownership.
NS 8104, the Lehigh Valley heritage unit, leads NS train 148 eastbound through Salisbury, MO towards Moberly and points east. i would end up seeing this train about 5 or 6 more times between here and Moberly before calling it quits. I had also shot the NS 8098 (Conrail heritage) before this one south of Moberly, making it a 2 for 1 today.
Ontario Northland Train #213 splits a pair of decommissioned searchlights as it meets the rising sun North of Temagami, ON. This morning's train has fresh repaint SD40-2 #1734 leading the way.
