The Parish Church of Saint Andrew

Scott Willoughby is a small hamlet just off the A52 Grantham to Boston road, it is situated approximately one mile west of the village of Osbournby. The parish church of St Andrew was built in 1826 and is the smallest parish church still in use in the county.

This photograph is one of the most historic and iconic photos I have had the pleasure of shooting. This dry (Graving) dock has always fascinated me as I have travelled through Greenock on the banks of the Firth of Clyde and I have done a little bit of digging to find out some information about it.

This is believed to be the oldest surviving dry dock in Scotland dating from the 1820's. It is also known amongst locals in Greenock as the Submarine Dock. Sadly it has been left to fall into a state of disrepair, The dock was last used in 1984 when the ship HMS Warrior went in for repairs.

You lived more than most people do in a lifetime. You will be missed.

Godspeed my brother.

To understand Scott's backstory, check out the Wake Up Scott set description.

Mangahao Power Station is a hydroelectric power station near the town of Shannon, New Zealand. After being delayed by war, access road construction and foundation testing was started by late 1919 and the station opened in November 1924. It makes use of Mangahao River, through a series of tunnels and pipelines totaling 4.8 kilometers, in the Tararua Ranges.

This is the tailrace of the power station which carries an impressive flow and volume of water emerging from the station. Hopefully I've managed to use a shutter speed that conveys the volume and pace of the water to some extent.

Kind of a cool technique, if you overpower the ambient light with your strobes and close up your aperture you can black out the background. It was lit up clear as day in there.

Scott Monument, a memorial to author Sir Walter Scott, on Princes Street in Edinburgh's New Town.

I've used the remove tool in Photoshop to take out the a traffic light and the ugly and distracting power cables from the Edinburgh Tram.

The Scott Monument is a Victorian Gothic monument to Scottish author Sir Walter Scott. It is the largest monument to a writer in the world. It stands in Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh, opposite the Jenners department store on Princes Street and near to Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station, which is named after Scott's Waverley novels.

The tower is 200 feet 6 inches (61.11 m) high, and has a series of viewing platforms reached by a series of narrow spiral staircases giving panoramic views of central Edinburgh and its surroundings. The highest platform is reached by a total of 287 steps. It is built from Binny sandstone quarried near Ecclesmachan in West Lothian.

The James Scott Memorial Fountain on Belle Isle in Detroit Michigan..

Quite the controversial character, Mr Scott only got this fountain because part of the condition of him donating his estate to the city upon his death was that they build the fountain in his honor and a life sized statue of him as well. Done and done...

Belle Isle, Detroit, Michigan

It was nice to see the fountain on Belle Isle all cleaned up and operational yesterday.

The ruins of an old sharecropper's cabin, in the Arkansas Delta. A few years ago the roof suffered damage from a storm, and the structure has slowly deteriorated ever since.

Our 2024 Scotland adventure began in Edinburgh after an overnight flight and checking in early to the hotel. We stopped first at the Scott Monument just down the road.
