Newark Castle is a ruin located just west of St Monans, on the east coast of Fife, Scotland. The building stands in a dramatic location, overlooking the North Sea. The upper storeys are ruinous, but vaulted cellars survive, hidden from view.

Culloden – A Place of History and Memory
On 16 April 1746, the fields of Culloden, near Inverness, witnessed the final battle of the Jacobite Rising. The Jacobite army, led by Charles Edward Stuart, was decisively defeated by the government forces commanded by the Duke of Cumberland.
The battle lasted only a short time, but its consequences were profound. For many Highland communities, Culloden marked the end of an era. In the years that followed, traditional Highland culture, clan organisation and many aspects of Gaelic life came under severe pressure.
Today, Culloden is a place of remembrance rather than simply a battlefield. The quiet landscape, the ancient stones and the memorials preserve the memory of those who died here and remind us of a turning point in Scottish history.
Culloden is not only a battlefield – it is a symbol of loss, memory and the enduring spirit of Scotland.

First ScotRail's Class 158 158725 (57725 + 52725) having just made its crossing over the Forth Bridge & into North Queensferry station.
Our third and final base for our Scotland trip was a wonderful remote cottage in the woods near Killin. On one day we ventured into the village to explore the fabulous waterfalls and surroundings. The rocks seem to be generally crowded with tourists, I was lucky to find a few quiet moments for a few photos. The Ben Lawers mountain range can be seen in the background.
About 12-13 years ago or so, I had a curry in a restaurant in Killin and it was so hot that I almost fainted :-P
