The St. John’s Separate School and Miniature Church is a Municipal Heritage Property near Leader, Saskatchewan. On the property is a one-room schoolhouse and a miniature replica of the original St. John's Lutheran Church. The abandoned school was built in 1924 and still has the desks and other items a teacher would need. These schools were built and administered by several religious denominations during the early 1900s. The wood-frame construction and rectangular architecture contains a distinct window wall that is typical of the rural one and two-room schools built during that period.
Founded in 1867 this school was built to educate former slaves. It was funded by New York educator and philanthropist, Emily Howard. The one room schoolhouse is 26 x 40 feet and was built by local black carpenters and builders. It was known as a graded school because it only educated grades 1 through 7.
Originally it was called the Howland Chapel because on Sundays it also served as a place of worship (for what would become the First Baptist Church congregation) until 1920. The school closed its doors in 1958 after being a schoohouse for almost 100 years. It is little altered from the Reconstruction era, but got new siding and minor restoration in 1991. This is the oldest school in Northumberland County, Virginia. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.

This indeed an old school. Located in Nes aan de Amstel, it used to be connected to the local church. Now it is a studio for artists. I run or bike often past it and I am always fascinated by it so needed to come back during sunset.
Have a greet weekend and many thanks for your comments & favs

Considered the largest wood frame structure in Knox County Illinois, this old early 1900’s school house now sits unused except for Halloween spook shows and the like. There is a walnut wood gymnasium on the top floor. This place was a real showcase in it’s day which proves to me that in it’s heyday this town was bustling and prosperous whereas today it is only a sleepy little village with no business district whatsoever. The current population is about 250. The fortunes of this town rose and fell with the railroad. It has been left high and dry by the winds of fate.

The snow was so feeble school was not cancelled here. Possibly some disappointed children that day :)
I hope your week started well. Was hit by several "people" putting links to their r18 photos today. They are all blocked but what a sad day for Flickr when this is not being controlled.
This was not one of the Freedom Schools of the 1960s. Rather, this building was a hotel and cafe, and the proprietor home-schooled her children, as well as some other local children, here. Supposedly the school operated until 2002.
This ornament goes back to my childhood years.

The Granite School is open to the public, who has, for the most part, not abused it. At the very least, it's still standing and most of the windows are not broken.
This is a rare RB67 shot that was done on the tripod. Usually I handhold everything, but it was too dark for such shenanigans.
