Old School Near German Valley, Illinois

"I think I'm going back

to the thing I learned so well in my youth.

I think I'm returning to

all those days when I was young enough to know the truth.

Now there are no games to only pass the time.

No more electric trains, no more trees to climb.

Thinking young and growing older is no sin

and I can play the game of life to win.

I can recall the time when

I wasn't ashamed to reach out to a friend.

And now I think I've got a lot more than

just my toys to lend.

Now there's more to do than watch my sailboat glide

and everyday can be my magic paradise.

I can play hide and seek with my fears

and live my days instead of counting my years.

Let everyone debate the true reality

I'd rather see my world the way it used to be.

A little bit of courage is all we lack,

so catch me if you can 'cause I'm going back.

I'm going back,

not just sitting, walking away.

Yes, I'm going back.

Going back to my youth.

Come on, catch me 'cause I'm going back,

I'm going back..."

Remains of the Abandoned Waller School

Wish you a warm and wonderful day.

I shot this broken pencil for a group theme but never got around to posting it. I've tortured it many different ways but not sure I agree with the results so I slid it back to its original state and here it is for this fine Sunday. Seemed appropriate as many are winding up the school year. Happy Slider Sunday - HSS.

This was my Grandfather's 1967 Nikon camera given to me by my Grandmother a few years ago. I don't take photos with it (it's heavy as heck) but I like looking at it because it reminds me of him.

Stowe School is a selective independent school in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, England. It opened on 11 May 1923, initially with 99 schoolboys, and with J. F. Roxburgh as the first headmaster

This indeed an old school. Located in Nes aan de Amstel, it used to be connected to the local church. Now it is a studio for artists. I run or bike often past it and I am always fascinated by it so needed to come back during sunset.

Have a greet weekend and many thanks for your comments & favs

This old schoolhouse was established in 1880 with 37 students. It was renovated in 2021 and is now a B&B - combining charm and modern comfort for guests on vacation.

HSS !

The school has been moved to private property for preservation. Located south of Pomeroy, Garfield County, WA.

My entire career has involved teaching....from preschool to high school, Spanish, English, French, and most recently, Special Education. I’ve loved it all, and it’s painful to see what’s happening now. This forlorn old school bus seems to mirror my feelings....

...Rarement. :-)

A former tsarist primary school, built in 1912, during the era of Russification. The school operated on this site until 1961, when it was moved to its current location.

In the 1970s, the building housed a butcher shop and was later converted into communal housing. Today, it is still partially occupied. A restored inscription in Russian, "Начaльноe Училище" (Nachalnoye Uchilishche), (Elementary School), along with the date of construction, remains on the façade. Łódź, Poland.

Here's another photo I never published. From a trip to Tuscon in 2012, this winter scene was shot at the Mission San Xavier del Boc south of the city.

Roedean School, near Brighton, England.

This was not one of the Freedom Schools of the 1960s. Rather, this building was a hotel and cafe, and the proprietor home-schooled her children, as well as some other local children, here. Supposedly the school operated until 2002.

These are old school prizes that I doubt were ever read. The top one was given in 1885 as an arithmetic prize to a cousin of my grandfather, and the David Livingstone book was his history and geography prize in 1914.
