This Lesser Scaup was checking me out as I took the photo.
It was taken west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada on s sunny summer evening.
is a small North American diving duck that migrates south as far as Central America in winter. It is colloquially known as the little bluebill or broadbill because of its distinctive blue bill. The origin of the name scaup may stem from the bird's preference for feeding on scalp—the Scottish word for clams, oysters, and mussels; however, some credit it to the female's discordant scaup call as the name's source.
Compared to other waterfowl, Lesser Scaup are stragglers when it comes to migration. They are often one of the last ducks to move south after breeding, sometimes staying on the breeding ground until things start freezing up. They're also one of the last species to head back north from the wintering grounds.

I took this photo last week when Luna lost her hairs back to Alice, no scalps are safe here! I actually think she looks really sweet with this one :)
Again, a huge thank you to Lynne for this wonderful and very special girl! She has totally won my heart! I really love her awesome lids too! Arabesque is remembering all the many elements that have formed her life thus far. Her little friend, Confidante, is not one of her pull charms...he is attached to her arm at the moment...and he shares in her journey. Lynne sent him along to keep her safe on her journey to me. Arabesque is so happy to have Confidante with her! She tells him everything.
Arabesque was originally a PDAA...and she has a WW's scalp. When I first saw her, she was wearing a Cangaway sweater of Lynne's. I also have one, and I decided to put her in it because I love the way she wears it!! :)
I have been so busy the last couple of days...and am still not able to be on flickr much atm...but hopefully will be back this afternoon! Life interrupted! :D
I love her with this Daibi scalp... unfortunately she'll be wearing her own scalp back, and she'll be away for a total make over... i'm so excited... :)

1. Skinny scalp before (modeled by Sprinkles)
2. I rinsed and conditioned the skinny and set it on sponge rollers. I placed it under a portable fan to dry for several hours and left the rollers in overnight.
3. Rollers out, curls set (no products used, curls set tight and smooth)
4. Styled: finger fluffing and separating curls, no combing or brushing
