After fostering Ms. Kitty for almost 2 months, today her adopters travelled into town to collect her. They are wonderful people who have adopted from me before, so, I know that her future is assured. They are thinking of calling her Dulce, which is a perfect name – as she is sweetness personified.

'This is the Zen approach: nothing is there to be done. There is nothing to do. One has just to be. Have a rest and be ordinary and be natural.'

A pair of Northern Gannets at their nest.
The male on the left had just returned and the female started to shake her head from side to side as if saying "Where have you been for all this time?"
The male then started to dart forward excitedly towards the female, beak agape, but never got too close.!
A few days later the female laid her first egg in the nest.
The head shaking is behaviour I have seen before but I have never managed to capture it on camera!.

Barred Owl with its dinner. Found him again a little later, sitting fat and happy in another tree digesting what I imagine is a big meal for an Owl.

This is the first time I've photographed the Milky Way from this location looking south. Usually I am at the lighthouse facing west. I'd like to shoot this in the spring when you can see the arch across the sky but not sure I have enough energy to be there early in the morning around 3 or 4 am lol.

Courtesy Brittany Martin Many find comfort or hope from seeing mourning doves. Some people believe that the sight of a mourning dove is a message from God, angels, or other spiritual guides. In the Old Testament of the Bible, a dove is a symbol of reconciliation, forgiveness and peace.

Und ich werde singen und tanzen. Mit weit geschlossenen Augen.

That’s my thing. At least dancing – and maybe sometimes with open eyes. Singing in the choir is unfortunately still canceled, I have to do that for myself for a while, like dancing ... In addition to the motif with the sheep, there was another one in the magazine that I couldn't resist – as hair accessories the googly eyes are also good ;-)

The Adventure
The weekend had been magical. Honni had never felt more relaxed or in love with their boyfriend. Spending so much time with family, in the water, and surrounded by the sweet Mediterranean air really recharged and re-energized our adventurer. But like all good moments, this one had to end too. After packing their bags, and saying their goodbyes, Honni and Melethril walked up to the front desk in the lobby and checked out.
So long Portoluna! We’ll miss you!

A small crowd of locals has gathered outside of Page, AZ, where what was announced to be the last inbound coal train to the Navajo Generating Station. There ended up being another run after this one, leaving later in the day and slipping by most buffs. I only saw one other railfan near Kayenta on the chase of the last train.

A rare occasion when a Short-eared owl not only flies close to you, but perches by your car. I was just about to pack up the car when I noticed this guy sitting on a pole right next to the parking lot.

Always good to catch up with Arthur. Mind you, I think he might have been more interested in the Tiger Snake, that I wasn't aware of at the time, as a possible dinner.

Abū ‘Abd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Ismā‘īl ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mughīrah ibn Bardizbah al-Ju‘fī al-Bukhārī 19 July 810 – 1 September 870), or Bukhārī, commonly referred to as Imam al-Bukhari or Imam Bukhari, was a Persian Islamic scholar who was born in Bukhara (the capital of the Bukhara Region (viloyat) of Uzbekistan). He authored the hadith collection known as Sahih al-Bukhari, regarded by Sunni Muslims as one of the most authentic (sahih) hadith collections. He also wrote other books such as Al-Adab al-Mufrad.
Imam al-Bukhari was the great theologian of the East. He collected and recorded about 600 thousand hadith, i.e. legend based on cases of life or some sayings of the Prophet. Out of them, al-Bukhari selected as “flawless” about 7400 hadith to include into the famous “As-Sahih” which became the second most important book after the Koran for the majority of Sunni.
The mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari presents in all of its magnificence. In the complex that occupies a vast territory, there are mausoleums, mosques, hotel for tourists and pilgrims, souvenir shops and religious literature.
The mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari is one of the main pilgrimage sites in Uzbekistan. The visiting of three shrines in Samarkand – the mausoleums of al-Bukhari, Shakhi-Zinda and Rukhabad – within one day, is called “small Hajj”.
He was leaving and gods only knew how long he'd be gone. She'd not told him how she really felt and he'd kissed her forehead as he went off to fight the army of the undead. Hoping it wasn't the last goodbye.

Why is it sad?
Makes us remember the good times we've had
Much more to say
Foolish to try
It's time for saying goodbye

After spending 8 hours in our backyard trees this Barred Owl swooped down landing in the top of our neighbors patio umbrella. After a while he calmly flew off and we hope to have him return.
This pretty deer had to pause and give me the look over while there in Yellowstone. A pretty setting there in the forest.
Oleg received an invitation for 2 bears to afternoon tea at the Palim Court at the Ritz from the Christmas bear and Father Christmas. Oleg has asked his very best friend Paddy www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/53417843047/in/gallery... to join him
After a very successful afternoon tea of much conversation over tea and various kinds of sweets, it was time to return home again
Saying goodbye is always hard.......
OLEG:
Thank you so much for your company my dear friend Paddy.
I enjoyed the meaningful conversations and will miss them.
PADDY: (wipes a tear)
I'm going to miss those conversations too Oleg.
Thank you so much for letting me come with you.
OLEG:
And...what a rest without Peter.
Fine for a while, but I long to see him again
PADDY:
I feel the same way Oleg.
OLEG:
Then we should say goodbye now
PADDY:
I have to go now because the train leaves in four minutes
Bye Oleg!!!
OLEG: (waving)
Bye Paddy!
Special greetings to Daddy!

Thank you dear Jesse for sending me Paddy's photo :-)
An early morning start and a 2 hour drive from my home in Christchurch to Lake Heron for a few photo’s and then a morning trout fishing at this beautiful spot in the Ashburton Lakes area. With plenty of action on the water with fish seeming to be saying I’m here, I settled on a few compositions including this frame looking South East along the shore.
It was my daughter's last day in Thailand yesterday. She's had seven years of adventures here but now she's all grown up and ready for the next chapter of her life. We're so proud of everything she's achieved during her school days and know that she will be amazing in university when the time comes.
Being in Thailand has taught her so many things - resilience, adaptability, compassion, a sense of adventure and being constantly inquisitive. She's excelled in all her studies, winning lots of academic awards along the way including the Valedictorian prize for top academic of her year group. She's won Top in Thailand awards five times, completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and served as head student. Yet, she remains humble and approachable winning many friends along the way. To say we're proud of her would be a massive understatement!
As for us parents we have big news ahead. More about that next week
As the Sun sets on the day, I look forward to what's next .
I wanted to start the New Year off with an image from my past. An image that says goodby and opening the door to what's next in the year to come.
This is Horseshoe Lake in Arizona. When I visit this area, I always make a point to get down to this tiny lake in the mountains West of Phoenix. Many times, the water is so low you can almost walk across the lake.
