As I had said back on my Dive Photo Nov 7 the Canso Causeway, Nova Scotia becomes a frenzy of activity
as large numbers of Atlantic Saury gather and become the food for Northern Gannets, Seals, the occasional whale and of course both young and old Bald Eagles. Here we have a young eagle taking one of these fish out of the water on a fast fly by.
For at least a week and a half Atlantic Saury have been gathering in large numbers in the area of the Canso Causeway, Nova Scotia. As has been my luck in past years I have always been too late to experience the frenzy that takes place as other animals feed on these fish. This year I was late again but was able to see and photograph some of the action in what would appear to be the last ,major pooling of these fish for another year. Here we have a Juvenile Northern Gannet diving for one of these fish. Will post a few other photos later
There are some names that grab our attention before anything else. You read a record review, you read the liner notes and you discover Alour. What a strange name Alour is. You don't come across Alour every day. And then you listen to the record and the music of Sophie, that's her first name. She plays tenor sax. And you like it. Il y a des patronymes qui retiennent notre attention avant toute autre chose. Tu lis une critique de disque, tu lis les notes d’une pochette de disque et tu découvres Alour. Bien curieux nom que cet Alour. Tu n’en croises pas tous les jours des Alour. Va savoir pourquoi le nom te plaît… Et puis tu écoutes le disque et la musique de Sophie, c’est son prénom. Elle joue du sax ténor. Et ça te plaît. Est-ce que l’on sait vraiment pourquoi telle ou telle musique vous plaît ? Tel son, telle composition, telle improvisation ? Il y a quelque chose qui tient de la profondeur. Et je parierai volontiers que c’est ça qui t’attire. Sa musique, son souffle t’entraînent vers les profondeurs, orientés par une gravité qui est la gravité accrochée à la beauté.

Pacific saury ramen was my first challenge, but it was delicious.

As a child I loved the mythology I learnt from my parents, books and dinosaurs. I can still name so many of them, although I don't exhibit or admit to that ability very often anymore!
Before I had Toby I bought nothing...I was too scared. Except this book. I bought this when I was only 4 months pregnant and hid it just in case.
He loves it. The pictures and the voices and curling up to read. I will be teaching him dinosaurs soon...
He does already have a green dinosaur...named Saury...he is a friendly dinosaur, naturally ;)
Edit: I had to edit it as I found half an hour...It just didn't look right at all to me!
