So lately I’ve felt like a lot of my lighting was all the same. Seriously how many different way are there to light a subject. You pick a few and you perfect them right?! Well I guess that’s pretty easy if you only have a few various shots here and there, or if you have a constant stream of DIFFERENT clients. However when you’re the subject for 365 days it’s kind of difficult to make a few different lighting styles constantly look interesting. So a few weeks back I created the strip lights; which I love by the way. Today, I created the DIY Ring flash! That’s right; and I’m LOOOOOVING it! It’s a completely different kind of light! So far one of the biggest things that I like about it, is the fact that because the lighting is directly in front of me you can’t see ANY shadows.
I figured I’d take the first night with the new ring flash to do my own debut on NBC’s long time running T.V. show “Saturday Night Live”. I can’t believe the show has been on for 35 years.
I also figured it was about time that I just smiled in a shot! Hahaha.

my favorite Saturday Night Live skit was Samurai Delicatessen with John Belushi and Buck Henry. There were loads of Samurai skits (Samurai Divorce Court: Futaba vs. Futaba - In the Samurai universe, custody cases are resolved by splitting children in twain.) Which inspired my Dog Grooming version. Don't worry, all my dog loving friends, Gracie was never in any danger those clippers couldn't cut warm butter.

So the head writer of Saturday Night Live, Seth Meyers came to Cornell to perform a stand-up comedy routine. I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the event for Slope Media (Thanks to Colin--[ www.flickr.com/photos/xbudd360/ ] for getting me a press pass and Christian--[ www.flickr.com/photos/yellowsnowman/ ] for letting me borrow his 70-200 2.8 that literally saved my life for this assignment!)

Another character who, I finally managed to get a part for, thanks to Bricklink, so I'm not into how the shows humor is going, but I know onw thing for sure that their previous skits and sketches are still pretty good, case in point, David Pumpkins! The spooky man who's his own thing, I saw the original sketch, but I couldn't find the animated Halloween special he's in. Designing his hair was easy, his head I guess is an ok match, but drawing all of thise pumpkins all over his body was difficult, and it was hard to give the details that the parts on him are pumpkins at all, but I think he turned out pretty good. He doesn't have his Skeleton buddies with him though, I'll have to get pieces for them next time. Any questions?

Light Painting - Single Exposure
Evan, Mr. Bill and Spot WERE having a great time until Sluggo arrived. If you watched Saturday Night Live back in the '80s, you know how mean Sluggo can be. I put this together for an Easter card back in 2011, but never got around to ULing it to Flickr.
I once read that these statues represent beings from a planet that had a lower gravity level ... same body but born there results in a 35 foot high person, etc., as gravity actually pushes down from space to keep us on the planet.
