Between the sea and the dunes at Ynyslas. Despite the sun, it was bitterly cold and windy, with driving sandstorms on the drier sandflats. It was only 13:38 GMT, so the length of the shadow proves it was the middle of winter.
Apparently, the diggers are removing a shedload of those sand tunes and moving them up the beach to Hightown, which is apparently sinking. I know this because the old guy that was out walking his dog, decided that I wanted to know all of this.
I actually love it when random people tell you things like that. It means I know things.
A few miles north of Union Pier lies Warren Dunes SP, part of the amazing and long series of dunes that run up Michigan's west coast.
