The Glass House (built 1877) now a museum at the Forest Farms Heritage Park in San Ramon, California.

While I was driving around San Ramon looking for Spring blossoms, I spotted this street completely covered with these spectacular white flower trees. I immediately found a place to park and walked toward this spot for my shot. It was a wonderful experience.

When the sun started to come down, we saw this cool scene in front of us. There were bands of green on these hills. I suspect it 's because of the sun drying up sections of the hills around here. I took a panorama of these hills just to show you the extent of the banding.

I saw someone post photos of these yellow lupines on Facebook and decided to head out there to look for them today. I was delighted to see a whole carpet in the field near Hidden Valley. There have been showers on and off for the last couple of days. Once the sun comes back, these lupines will definitely strive.

Saw this guy maneuvering his mountain bike uphill. It was a struggle for him but he finally made it. The surrounding green hills are beautiful as you can see. So it 's well worth the effort for him. As for me, I just walked.

I was wondering how the Fujifilm SuperCCD sensor with EXR technology could stack up against a high dynamic scene like this. I metered my camera at the sky to retain the highlights. In post, I tried to lift the shadows down below. I was pushing the JPEG file to the limit. The resulted image had some fine grains that reminded me of film. The highlights near the sun are a bit artificial, but that 's the best I could do with the file. If you look closer to the shadows, there are even dead pixels sprinkled all over. Am I content with this Fujifilm point and shoot> It 's hard to say. I just want see how bad CCD sensor performs against CMOD sensors when it comes to high contrast scene this.

So many purple lupines can be found here and it offers a good view toward the sunset. I shall come back here this weekend to explore a bit more of the whole area.

Took a short hike to Hidden Valley today. Once we reached the first ridge, we looked back and saw the peak of Mt Diablo. Looks like majority of its snow has been melted. Weather forecast has indicated that there is another storm coming early next week with cold temperature. Hopefully, the snow will return.

My friend saw this photo of mine taken a couple days ago and immediately reacted that it looked like a wedding venue. Then, my other fiend chimmed in and said the road sign and yellow traffic light poluted the venue. But then he added that they provided some contrast to the photo. I just responded to them, the yellow traffic light was just a metaphor of warning sign in the marriage.

Do you see what I see? Anyway, my wife spotted him first. She then told me to look. I spent almost 20 sec to figure what it was cos it had blended in so well with the tree trunks.

A new Japanese noodle place called Marugame Udon has just been opened at Bishop Ranch. We first tried its udon at its Waikiki store in Oahu. It was very tasty but there was always a very long line of people waiting. We came to this store on Saturday and the place was not quite as packed. The udon and its soup base were just as good as the one in Waikiki. They showed the whole process of making udon on the spot. It was very interesting as the whole place was run by youngsters like this guy.

While we were doing a walk at the community park in San Ramon this afternoon, we heard music in the not-so-far distance. So we walked toward the music and sawta band was playing Bollywood music. It drew a crowd. When I started filming the whole scene, a guy with an Einstein hair style and mustache walked past us. I then took this opportunity to capture him in front of us.

I took out the Contarex Bullseye that my friend had given me for a hike. It was just as heavy and bulky as my Canon full frame DSLR. I 'm not sure if I would do it again. With a roll of Kodak Portra in it, I capture this scene of cow grazing.

Dropped by this plaza earlier this evening to grab a quite dinner. When I came out to the courtyard, steam shot up from the ground. I quickly took out my Canon PowerShot and captured this scene.

Taken at Bishop Ranch in San Ramon on a cold December night in 2011 (yep, from last year). It stil looks as pretty this year.

Wishing you all my Flickr friends the best of the Christmas season with your loved ones!

My wife woke me up early this morning and asked me to go hiking with her. So off we went and arrived at the Hidden Valley trailhead. I was in a hurry so I had slipped on my hiking shoes without thinking too much. I then realized the trail was partially muddy and filled with cow patties. By the time we reached the ridge here, my feet were soaking wet as I had to walk slightly off trail to make my way around the mud and cow patties. Nevertheless, it was still well worth it. We were pleasantly surprised by the early bloom of the mustard flowers. It was a sight to behold at the ridge.

This was my 2nd outing with my Leica ME typ 240. I was quite pleased with its rendering. Man, that Carl Zeiss Biogon is super sharp! Yet it 's very compact.

I saw these stone circles littere along the slope of Tassajara Ridge. Not sure if these were natural or arranged by humans. I went online to search for an answer to no avail. I have suspecion these are from the Natives as this whole area along Tassajara Creek is known to be occupied by the Bay Miwok settlement in the distant past. What 's your theory?

Didn't realize it was Friday already. Well, I did have one fence photo taken on a very cold day a few months go. HFF everyone!

We went out to San Ramon earlier this evening to check out the rolling green. The sun was almost down already, so I only had half an hour of light to admire the green pastures. This satellite dish was still illuminated by the setting sun. Good thing I had my DSLR with him to capture this shot before it became dark.

I was watching this worker setting up this X'mas tree with giant ornaments yesterday. He had to operate a crane to lift himself up! My wife took some video of the scene. It was quite entertaining for a rather mundane day to us.

We were blocked by these cows today when we tried to get out of this gate and walk back to our car. This calf was trying to get through but couldn't get his whole body squeezed into that gap. I did not want to help because his mom was right next to him. And that lady walking down from the hill didn't help either. On well!

Saw this police car park at Bishop Ranch earlier this evening. The police presence was felt there due to the recent robberies of a few retail malls in the Bay Area.

I took this last Summer when Tassajara ridge was totally brown with dry grass. With the recent rain, the green should have been back already. I need to check it out after the storm and when the trails are not muddy.
