This guy was literally snatched from the jaws of death.
I noticed a few of the cats gathered around a pile of rocks where they had cornered this poor little fella.
Most of the time it's too late for me to save the day, the cats make short work of any unfortunate rodent they come across......and after all, that is their job, but I hate to see them torturing anything. I was able to scoop Mr. Mouse up in a flower pot and I relocated him to another area of the yard......away from the house with plenty of cover!

Although the entire home was destroyed, the stone safe remains. Guarded by a huge iron door are contents long since abandoned from the interest of it's owners.
Forrest wanted to tic off another 12,000+ foot peak on his list, so we headed out to new terrain and were pleasantly suprised! We discovered a new couloir that we'll have to come back and get in the spring time when it's safer.
