18th July 2012 at Under the Bridge, London SW6.

Country: United States: New Orleans. Style: R and B.

Lineup: "Dr John" (Mac Rebennack) (v/p/organ/g/percussion), Jon Cleary (p/keyboard/g/percussion/v), John Fohl (g), David Barard (bass g), Raymond Weber (d), Derek Huston (baritone sax), Sarah Morrow (trombone).

Mac Rebennack grew up in the Third Ward. After playing on numerous New Orleans R&B recordings, he made his commercial breakthrough in 1968 as Dr John, the Night Tripper. In recent years he has mostly reverted to a more traditional style R & B. The band included long time colleague David Barard, with Raymond Weber (until recently of Dumpstaphunk) replacing the late Roscoe Ernest. John Fohl has been around for a few years since he replaced Bobby Broom. For this European tour Jon Cleary (who leads his own band and performs with Bonnie Raitt), Derek Huston (once of the Iguanas) and Sarah Morrow (once of the Ray Charles band) made up the Lower 911.
