These students from Kashmere, North Early College, and Wheatley High Schools worked in cooperative groups to solve a real world problem. Each group of 3 to 4 students posed as an engineering firm that would submit a robotics solution to a geophysics problem. Teams used the LEGO Mindstorm NXT robot to design a vehicle that could climb to the top of a Mountain to retrieve rocks that stored energy. Their vehicle should be able to climb the mountain and continue its motion as the slope of the mountain increased. The team whose robot climbed the highest would win the bid with my company.
Gideon spent three days with a line in his leg. Every morning the staff would hook the line to a form of dialysis machine and harvest stem cells. The pinkish bag hanging from the machine are his stem cells. The stuff of life.

Governor Kay Ivey visited the Dyer Family STEM Center Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in Phenix City, Ala. The STEM Center is located on the campus of Phenix City Intermediate School. Students from the Communities In Schools afterschool program in Pasadena recently visited San Jacinto College for the STEM Expo, which featured 25 stations. More than 650 people are in attendance, including K-12 and college students, parents, and teachers!
Hoover High School held a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Kickoff at the Science Center of Iowa on November 1st. A STEM presentation about the program was given to 9th graders who are beginning the program. In the presentation, a study emphasized that demands of STEM related jobs in Iowa. After prizes were handed out to students, a Science Center presentation about fire and ice entertained the audience.
