The Cirrus SR22 is a single-engine, composite-construction aircraft known for being the best-selling general aviation airplane since 2003. It features a fixed tricycle landing gear, a powerful Continental IO-550-N engine (310 hp), and a Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) for emergencies. Key features include a sleek, modern design, a "glass cockpit" with a "side yoke" control, and a comfortable four or five-seat cabin.
Key features
Performance: Powered by a 310 hp Continental IO-550-N engine, it has a cruise speed of 180 knots (207 mph) and a maximum speed of 186 knots (214 mph).
Safety: It comes standard with the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS), which can lower the entire aircraft in an emergency. Newer models also include the Safe Return Emergency Autoland system.
Design: The aircraft is made from a composite airframe, which reduces weight and improves aerodynamics. It has a low-wing design and fixed landing gear.
Cockpit: It features a sophisticated "glass cockpit" with advanced avionics, a side-stick control ("side yoke"), and a comfortable, modern cabin with luxury appointments.
Capacity: It is a four or five-seat aircraft.
Generations and evolution
SR20 basis: The SR22 was developed from the SR20, featuring a larger wing and a more powerful engine.
G2 and G3: Subsequent generations (G2, G3) introduced further airframe modifications, including fuselage and landing gear improvements.
Latest generations: Newer models, such as the G6 and G7, feature a four-bladed propeller for improved performance, more advanced avionics, and enhanced safety features like the Safe Return system.
