Rainbow Lorikeets, although common in my area, rarely visit my backyard. The'll certainly flock to the red flowering gum tree in front of my hose once the buds open. But today, this one perched on the tea tree and delivered a long, animated speech just for me. I'm yet to learn the tongue...

Speech House Lake in the Forest of Dean is a small fishing lake in the Speech House Woods. Beautiful in the morning light. Not a lot of wildlife about when I took this shot, but I liked the light and the stillness of the lake itself. Apparently they filmed some scenes from a BBC show called “Merlin” here. Never really watched it myself so can’t comment!

Entirely uncharacteristically the Beeb, rapidly becoming our 'official' state media, let the voice of the oppressed slip through on Monday. Someone there must have grown both a spine and a heart. It is bloody magnificent.

Speech House Lake, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

A legal art sculpture on someone's private property. Open to the public to photograph as you wish. I had to check it out. It's legitimate artwork and took hundreds of hours to hand carve that.

This sculpture was erected due to a dispute the owner had with the town.
