Sunset is a good time for photography—not only for landscapes, but also for architecture. The sun is just bright enough to give some color to the buildings. It is also late enough so the lights are turned on. The unevenly lit office lighting create interests in the facade.

This is the facade of Jardine House, one of my favorite architectures in Hong Kong. The dotted patterns give it interests, and at night it looks like an array of musical notes. I have been photographing this building from the north side, but it seems that this vantage point from Connaught Road C is best. So I might do some long exposure with a tripod some time in the future.

Also at the Canon iSQUARE Hong Kong Showroom are these photo equipment demos which doubles as observation decks for visitors.

Tsim Sha Tsui, where the showroom is located at, is one of the prime location for tourists in Hong Kong. By placing these super telephoto L lenses on EOS-1 bodies, these demo setups go beyond the function of being a simple sales tool and do double-duty as observation decks for the casual visitors.

Although you can see only one of such setup here, the showroom in fact has six of these at this corner, showcasing all the crown jewels of the Canon EF Ls including the EF 400mm

f/2.8L IS II USM (pictured), EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM, etc. These lenses all retails for 10k+ USD so if you ever want to play with these toys without breaking the bank, this is the candy shop for you to visit.

This is by far the most ingenious photography showroom display I have ever seen. Crazyisgood. SML Love.

Porsches are everywhere in Hong Kong, so I’ve wised up—there is no reason to go look for them on the street really, all I need to do is go downstairs to the car park and there is a healthy dose of them in very bright colors.

The 911s are my favorite Porsche model—the duck which speeds. Beautiful forms and very humanistic. It is an unassuming form which roars when it runs.

13th annual D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival® (Sept 25 to Sept 27, 2009)

www.dumboartfestival.org/press_release.html

The three-day multi-site neighborhood-wide event is a one-of-a-kind art happening: where serendipity meets the haphazard and where the unpredictable, spontaneous and downright weird thrive. The now teenage D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival® presents touchable, accessible, and interactive art, on a scale that makes it the nation's largest urban forum for experimental art.

Art Under the Bridge is an opportunity for young artists to use any medium imaginable to create temporary projects on-the-spot everywhere and anywhere, completely transforming the Dumbo section of Brooklyn, New York, into a vibrant platform for self-expression. In addition to the 80+ projects throughout the historical post-industrial waterfront span, visitors can tour local artists' studios or check out the indoor video_dumbo, a non-stop program of cutting-edge video art from New York City and around the world.

The Dumbo Arts Center (DAC) has been the exclusive producer of the D.U.M.B.O Art Under the Bridge Festival® since 1997. DAC is a big impact, small non-profit, that in addition to its year-round gallery exhibitions, is committed to preserving Dumbo as a site in New York City where emerging visual artists can experiment in the public domain, while having unprecedented freedom and access to normally off-limit locations.

In Turkey, oil wresting is a totally legit sport between men. The rules are simple:

1 2

3 4

1. Get oiled up with lots of olive oil.

2. What happened after you got properly oiled up.

3. Wrestling in oil.

4. What it looks like when you have won.

It seems that Turkey is much of a destination for this year’s world tour. Yes indeed. SML needs to go and do some sports photography once in a while.

Some of you asked me for EOS M samples — Here's one taken tonight at dinner. EOS M with EF 17-40 f4L. It feels really more like holding the lens then holding a camera — it's a weird thing. The CMOS sensor seems the same as the 7D — it creates 25MB RAW files!!! #crazyisgood #smllove :)

Sprint launched an interactive advertising campaign to promote their mobile broadband network called Now.

The site is realized as a cluster of widget panels, each of which displays one aspects of what's happening in the world. Rolling each widget gives a bit of data about the world.

Particularly interesting to me is the very witty copy which comes with the voice over. The sound design is also very well done, which mimics the ambience aboard a spaceship. Nice animation. Overall it's a well executed site. Kudos to the team who created this!

I didn’t think that it was possible to fit two cameras inside the Lowepro Fastpack 200. I was wrong.

Pictured: Canon EOS 7D + Canon EF 70-200 mm f/4L USM + Canon EOS M + Canon EF 17-40 f/4L USM. Increasingly I am loving these f/4L lenses.

Although image quality is unbeatable with the f/2.8’s, it is no fun lugging deadweight when I travel. Comparatively speaking, the EF 100 f/2.8 Macro (not pictured) has both supreme image quality while being relatively light, thus making it ideal for travel use as well.

This bag is awesome. Highly recommended. As all the lenses and cameras, of course.

Ancient Silence No. 3

Oil on paper

21" x 17", 2009

Todd Lehman – Artist Statement

Nineteenth-century English critic Walter Pater said that all art aspires to be music. More recently, in a ''New York Times'' interview, Spanish painter Antoni Tapies said, "One should compare modern art to music." Who can argue with that? Abstract painting then is about visual noise and energy-and about the beauty of silence-all of which are certainly related to music.

While I sometimes work on large canvases, I prefer the hard surface of paper and often collage newspaper or various handmade papers, including rice papers, into a painting. Tools? Brushes, of course, but also a variety of scraping and scratching tools.

What inspires my paintings? Two things-landscape and architecture. Well, maybe three things. The energy of New York City is inescapable. We New Yorkers are addicted to the visual noise and drive of the city, but for obvious reasons we relish moments of solitude and meditation. So my paintings are sometimes like a raucous traffic jam, other times like the quiet of a leaf falling in a Japanese garden. They are the pages of a visual autobiography.

This is a close up view of one of the nine Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters currently deployed on the USS Peleliu LHA-5.

The X at the front is the tail rotor, whereas the / in the back is one of the folded main rotor blades which spans 72 ft 2.8 in (22.01 m) when fully extended.

What I find to be particularly interesting is that the blades are marked by color bands in blue, red, black and yellow. I do not know the reasons for them, but I do see a usability rationale: when the weather condition is terrible and especially if you are in combat, being able to quickly communicate to your engineer which blade needs fixing definitely save time. Split second decision might often mean the difference between life and death, no doubt.

I do not know if this is specific to the US Marines or if it is a standard for helicopter designs, but I thought that it is wonderful.

# About the Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion

The CH-53 Sea Stallion is the most common name for the Sikorsky S-65 family of heavy-lift transport helicopters. Originally developed for use by the United States Marine Corps, it is also in service with Germany, Iran, Israel, and Mexico. The United States Air Force operated the HH-53 "Super Jolly Green Giant" during the late- and post-Vietnam War era, updating most of them as the MH-53 Pave Low.

Hong Kong’s bus stops are very long. Each stops usually have space to allow multiple buses “park” at the same time. They usually run along the highway, so having space for multiple buses to stop along the way is necessary. This enables high speed travel with stops along major districts.

You know why New York buses are inefficient? Because in New York every block is a traffic light. In Hong Kong the urban planning is different. Buses can run on highway all the time while sections of the pedestrian walk is crafted out for bus to stop.

彩熊 Rainbow Teddy (RT) is super psyched with the EOS M.

“Wow, this camera is the bomb!” RT said. “Finally there is a camera that I can control. I don’t even need a shutter release. I just point and it focuses. And the mirrorless body is light like me [1]. Best yet, I can even reach the lens for zooming.”

Pictured here with the Canon EF 17-40 f/4L USM lens [2], the Canon EOS M is the first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera produced by Canon [3]. It is effectively a miniature version of the Canon EOS 650D with a simpler physical interface. Like the 7D, it contains a 18 megapixel APS-C crop frame CMOS chip. But unlike the 7D, it's focusing performance is rather poor.

However its saving grace is its ability to do full HD 1080p videography in AI servo mode—which is what SML now uses for lightweight travel use. Also now semi-permanently mounted on tripod to do videography for the Serenity series. Recommended.

I have a camera annex in my closet. You won’t see the Canon EOS 7D or the Canon EOS M here because those body is always with me in the camera bag. You also won’t see the 24-70 or the 17-40 here as those are semi-permanent fixture on the 7D and EOS M respectively. What you will find here are, from left to right (approximately):

5. Canon Speedlite 430EX. Pretty good though I am letting my dad use it because differences in power output makes it difficult to do manual strobes with the 580EX. Now replaced by 430EX II: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/571297-USA/Canon_2805B002_...

6. Canon Speedlite 580EX. Super bright goodness. Highly recommended. Now replaced by 580EX II: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/486706-USA/Canon_1946B002_...

7. Canon CP-E4 Compact Battery Pack. Improves flash recycle times by 3 times for the 580EX. Nothing special about it except that it houses 8 more AA batteries so I guess that it just cycles faster. If you use Ni-MH rechargeable batteries it should already be pretty fast. Though Ni-MHx12 is obviously super crazy fast. Recommended. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/498738-REG/Canon_1947B001_...

8. Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Autofocus Lens. The non-L lens which has image quality which rivals other L lenses. This is a must-buy. Good for macro as well as portraits. Highly recommended. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/194451-USA/Canon_4657A006_...

9. Canon Angle Finder C. Allows you to adjust viewing angle while providing 1.25x to 2.5x switchable magnification. Super useful for doing macros and other odd camera placement when eyeing from the back is not really possible. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/183200-REG/Canon_2882A001_...

10. Canon EOS 10D. My first DSLR. 6.3 megapixel ACPS-C crop frame goodness. It is at its 60,000+ cycles and still going strong. Used as my spare as well as perms-loan to dad. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_10D

11. Canon EOS 100. My first SLR bought by my dad when I went to Yale in 1995. It is my only film camera and yes it still works. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_100

12. Canon PowerShot G12. My point+shoot camera. Highly recommended for photographers but not recommended for amateurs, this shoots JPEG and RAW on SD cards. 10MP CCD sensor with the usual Av / Tv / Manual functions. But for amateurs it can be somewhat daunting—my dad gave up on it and gave it back to me. But he is using the 10D and loving it. This is why I told amateur photographers that they should just get a DSLR because it is easier. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/734743-REG/Canon_4342B001_...

13. Canon PowerShot G2. My first Canon P+S. I loved it. I don’t know if it still works but after moving back to Hong Kong I found something in the memory card taken in 2007. Super awesome. Recommended. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_PowerShot_G

14. Canon ST-E2 Speedlite Transmitter. Before Canon got into the radio transmitting game, this is the only wireless off-camera flash controller. (although the MT-24EX also can do that up to 3 groups). The ST-E2 controls up to 2 groups. Super useful is that it emits AF-assist beam in very low-light conditions so I sometimes mount it on the camera even when I don’t use flash. Recommended. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/164264-REG/Canon_2478A002_...

“Together with the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L USM lens [6], this setup weighs more than 1000 times my total weight,” RT said. “My hands cannot really reach the shutter release on the camera, but thankfully the battery grip has another shutter release which allows me to do portrait photography easy. Perfect for me!”

As Cosmopolitan writes, it is “Sex in the City marries Facebook.” While SML has his “MenReview” project, it seems that this idea is not really that far off, as clearly there is a market for men reviews.

Available on iOS as well as the Android platform, LuLu allows women to review men anonymously, with things which women apparently do care about: is he ambitious, trustworthy, good in bed?

Sickly awesome. Crazysigood. SML Love.

1. The updated iTunes is awesome. Spiffy and neat. SML Love. SML Thank You. Yes I own a lot of @Tiesto. Tiesto is my “work like a machine” biohacking music. The US Air Force uses Amphetamine for the same purpose, but Tiesto is both safer and cheaper (and legal in most countries).

2. Now that my iTunes Match subscription has ended, I can finally change country. SML Thank You. Updated my credit card information to Hong Kong, so all should be good, right?

3. Apparently not. I kept on getting error 5002. Googling the net it seems that credit card info is the issue. People suggest that removing CC and then only subscribing again should work. But not for me.

4. But I have identified the issue. Basically, the US address entries contain City and State information which Hong Kong address does not. But since I used to live in New York, those fields are active, thus obviously my bank does not authorize an address in Brooklyn but there is no way for me to remove those entries in my address fields [2]

SML2AAPL: please fix! SML Thank You in advance.

This is one of my favorite Chinese snack. It is very popular in South East Asia and it has different names depending on region. It is known as krupuk or kerupuk in Indonesia; keropok in Malaysia; kropek in the Philippines; bánh phồng tôm in Vietnam and xiapian (蝦片 虾片 "prawn chips") in Chinese.

The ones seen in the photo was photographed at 東海酒家 East Ocean Restaurant in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It is served as a light hors d’oeuvre before the meal and is infused with black pepper, which is very yummy.

Recommended.

Oblivious to the chaos surrounding around him, Rainbow Teddy (RT) got into the “zone” trying to figure out the best move to counter SMLBioBot’s opening while the red blitz chess clock is ticking away.

“You know, I am a nice guy,” RT said. “SMLBioBot has agreed to play chess over Skype with his Mr G next weekend, so I figured that I would help him out a little bit. There aren’t many gay geeks out there who can play chess well and I am just doing my part to get him up to speed.”

RT is pictured here with SML’s beloved Fischer designed chess set with dotted bishops so it is easy to tell the pawns from the bishops even when photographed head on from above. Design SML Love. :)

Anna Gershberg from the Aidan Gallery in Russia spoke to SML about "The Silence of Maria", a series of 9 works by Russian photographer Rauf MAMEDOV at The Armory Show 2010, an international contemporary art fair held in New York City every year.

Rauf MAMEDOV

The Silence of Maria, 2010

God's Enigmatic Silence.

Sometimes you want to shout so badly.

You want a reply, a shout to match your own.

Not from anyone, but from God himself, the Creator.

We want Him to offer us a hand.

He keeps His enigmatic silence.

And then the fear creeps in.

You can defeat the fear by practicing the same enigmatic silence, the silence of God.

Silent people are Godlike.

They are often accused of the sin of pride.

Even more often they get institutionalized in various sorts of hospitals.

"The Silence of Maria" is a series of 9 works based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew. (2:14-15, The Flight To Egypt)

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

I have had shark’s fins many times now but I have never had 斑翅 garoupa fins. The two should not really be compared as they are technically different, but part of the it has the texture of shark’s fins which is quite wonderful.

Pictured is how the dish is served at 翠亨邨 Tsui Hang Village, a cantonese restaurant at the 香港中環新世界大廈 New World Tower in Central, Hong Kong.

The braised garoupa fins come with the tail of the garoupa. Served with Chinese cabbage in a sweet succulent sauce. Super yum. Highly recommended.

According to an SML trusted source [1] as well as available public media sources, Japanese fashion retail brand Uniqlo is considering a public listing by introduction on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2013 with no additional funding. The main purpose of the IPO is believed to be further establishment of brand image.

My being a lover of Uniqlo’s products, it is a no-brainer that it is on my buy-list.

Data is important to me. Some humans commented that I have a lot of tags. If you have no data, sure, you don’t need tags. But if you have 10,000+ media items on Flickr like I do, you tag, you organize, you make sure that everything you do is searchable so that when someone asked you for a photo, you are able to find it under 10 seconds. I can do that. Can you?

3 4

1. I use Adobe Lightroom, because it has tight integration with the EXIF metadata storage scheme implemented by Flickr.

2. When I enter information in the title / description area of Lightroom, it automatically populates the relevant fields on Flickr. www.flickr.com/photos/seeminglee/8429087032/

3. When I assign keywords inside Lightroom, they get populated as Flickr tags. Lightroom has an awesome feature which allows you to create synonyms for tags, and is what I currently do for Chinese tags. I am bilingual, Flickr is not. So assigning synonyms inside Lightroom, I tag once but then Flickr shows both Chinese and English on the page. www.flickr.com/photos/seeminglee/8429087032/

4. The JPEG format stores metadata information in the form of EXIF. Add /meta to the Flickr URL and you see it instantly. JPEG EXIF on Flickr is text only, making it very indexable by search engines. All that info you spend time organizing in Lightroom is reflected automatically. www.flickr.com/photos/seeminglee/8429087032/meta

Some people said that they have no idea where I find the time to popular these fields. I don’t. Everything is automatic. Things just get smartly embedded everywhere. With a few scripts anything is possible.

Rodney Graham is recognized for a rigorously intellectual art, which ranges from photography, film, video and music to sculpture, painting and books. Graham's work examines social and philosophical systems of thought, in particular those derived from the transition of the Enlightenment into Modernism. Underlying each work is an historical context, through which a complex narrative incorporates literary and philosophic references and visual puns.

The work is essentially circular in structure and moves in seamless and infinite loops, such as the film trilogy Vexation Island (1997), How I Became a Ramblin' Man (1999), and City Self/Country Self (2001), where Graham impersonates fictional characters - respectively a castaway, a cowboy and a city dandy as well as its opposite, a country man – who are engaged in the endless repetition of fruitless actions and gestures, caught in the impossibility of reaching any meaningful conclusion. Borrowing from existing models, Graham constructs his own system, whose operating logic, often based in disorientation, the humorous and the absurd, deflects rather than reveals the key to their interpretation.

Rodney Graham lives and works in Vancouver.

SML’s obsession with G continues.

G says that he likes the rendering. He is now using it as his Facebook profile photo. But SML feels that particular rendering is not really a reflection of who G is.

SML asked if G has a choice, which colors would those be. G said he likes black, white, and blue. SML asked which kinds of blue? G said gray blue. SML observed that G likes Olek, and Olek has a lot of camouflaged crochet species. So SML picked a range of gray blues which would appear like camouflaged.

G said that he wanted to turn these into a Tshirt for himself. So SML picked three Pantone swatches blue black to make silkscreening easy. Also by request, designator switched to GWTF — which stands for Generation WTF, an awesome group on Facebook about everything awesome and sweet.

The Pantone specs are:

+ GWTF Light Blue: Pantone 628 C

+ GWTF Blue: Pantone 7702 C

+ GWTF Dark Blue: 7700 C

+ GWTF Black: Pantone Process Black C

Typography:

+ Helvetica Black. Seems something neutral is good for now. Might switch to Berthold Akzidenz Grotesk later because SML prefers that it has more character, But Akzidenz does not have the weight needed and SML does not yet have the time to draw custom fonts for G yet.

So the Hover Bar kept on getting better. I have now found it to be most useful in controlling music surface. Here shown again with Griid Pro and the Ableton Live set of Orphion Ping Pong on the Dell U2711 monitor.

The great thing about the arm is that I can position it where my left hand rests way out from the desk. No more holding the 1.5 lb iPad 3 with two hands. Now this is how controllers should be. It is also useful with other music apps I own. Vibration is still an issue but otherwise I do recommend it.

This is working so well that I am thinking of having monitor arms for all my monitors now.

“So basically I grew up in a party”—LaLa Ortiz

Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling happy colors in a surrounding filled with lava lamps and fishnets, LaLa’s childhood is one of hippie descent—which could best be summarized as peace, love and herbal enlightenment.

Her upbringing reminds me of the party scene in New York in the 90s—a remake of the Tunnel rooms [1]. I don’t even go clubbing, but as a photographer I sometimes get invited to tag along and I was exposed to many of these crazy happenings usually after 4am when the bar closes. Before the days of “hush hush” [2] and clubs are still everywhere, this is where you go.

If our childhood shapes how we are today, it might explain why LaLa’s artwork is also full of wonders and the soul of the highly imaginary.

# Notes

1. Tunnel was a nightclub in New York City. It was architecturally distinctive: a long, narrow space with multiple rooms on several levels. One room, decorated by artist Kenny Scharf, was called the Kenny Scharf Lava Lounge. Others were decorated as Victorian libraries, S/M dungeons, and lounges. In the late 1980s, Club Kids, including Michael Alig, Amanda Lepore, and RuPaul, often gathered in the V.I.P. room in the basement. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunnel_(New_York_nightclub)

2. Hush hush is a form of “private clubs” for the “knowing few” to consume liquor for exuberant ripped off prices in local restaurants to avoid the 4am kurfew.

Screenshot here is what the Ableton Live set of Orphion Ping Pong looks like inside Griid Pro. I own many Ableton Live iPad controller apps including TouchOSC and TouchAble. TouchAble is the one with the most features. TouchOSC is a custom hackable version. I also write my own Python OSC hacks to interface with Ableton Live in the shell. So trust that I know how all these things work.

Griid Pro, made by Liine, does not have as many features as TouchAble, but it is however the most stable. Stability and user experience is important to me. Sometimes you just want things to work as they are supposed to. You don’t really need a whole lot of features. That said Griid Pro can use an interface update. Regina graphics would be nice.

Otherwise it is well worth its slightly higher admission price. Recommended.

“Bjango iStat Menus 4”

A nice update from version 3, iStat Menus 4 is a powerful and highly customisable system monitor with nice UI graphics so you can get to all your system data quickly and efficiently.

Pictured:

1/ Sensors. Displays temperature, voltage, current levels, HDD spin rate etc of all your system components. This is how I know that the MacBookAir often runs at temperature above 100˚C when crunching numbers (e.g. video rendering).

2/ Network. Displays current network traffic as well as breaking down who is using how much. Very useful to narrow down which app is using all your network traffic and preventing you to view your streaming video adequately.

3/ CPU. Displays CPU usage load broken down by User / System / Nice / Idle. Also displays load average a la “top”. I am fairly sure that the load average of 1 denotes single core levels — so max for a quad core machine is 4 — but the percentage values denotes 4 as 100% (this is a change from iStat Menus 3 where 100% means 1 core).

4/ Memory. Does not really require much explanation. Inactive is essentially free-able memory. This touches on the specifics of OSX which is too long to explain so I won‘t bother.

5/ Battery. A nice battery breakdown not just about the computer but also all the bluetooth devices which requires charging.

6/ Date/Time. My favorite of the bunch. Highly customisable Date/Time display so I can configure everything in ISO 8601 style complete with time zone information. This makes it easy for me to note the order of events if I decided to screenshot anything. Allows additional cities to be added and configured in the way one wishes.

Verdict: highly recommended for the Mac data nerds. Normal humans can skip if the review above is all jibberish to you.

Shell is generally the way to go, but for humans who need a holding hand, these web apps and GUI apps should help jump start the process.

1. Github is the leading platform for git repo’s. Public repo hosting is free. Private repo hosting costs $. Many open source projects host on GitHub. Great community. Recommended for public repo hosting. github.com

2. BitBucket is a clone of github. One can argue whether it is in fact unethical that they do that. But BitBucket supports free private hosting so SML uses it also. In recent years BitBucket has been gaining traction in the Python community. Most notably the flask framework is hosted on BitBucket and not Github. Recommended for free private repo hosting. bitbucket.org

3. SourceTree is a free GUI client for git repo browsing and tracking. It is arguably the best free app available on the OSX. Its UI can use a work over, but again you can’t beat its price. Recommended for free GUI repo browsing. www.sourcetreeapp.com/

4. Kaleidoscope is not really a git-specific app, but it is a pretty GUI client for diff’ing. Recently updated, the new version now supports 3-way-diff, image diff, folder digg and other enhancement. Recommended for casual as well as serious users. kaleidoscopeapp.com

For quite some time now, and especially after “normal humans” started using Facebook, that fun which unites us all became an extreme boredom of emptiness. Similarly, while Twitter was fun I'm 2007, it is now filled with spam and marketing. I was so fed up with the BS in social media that I kind of unplugged from it for a while.

But then came along this very fun and crazy people in a group named “Generation WTF” who are supremely active in sharing everything crazy and everything awesome. Visual culture requires no word yet it touches the soul. I often tell people, to appreciate art, you need only to look at it. Art is a form of communication by itself. If you don’t get it, then move on, that message is not for you. But if you do get it, then that is the message for you.

So if WTF communicates to you, read more WTF. That is all.

It all started when Humble was six, with a rather gleefully coloured rendition of the Jabberwocky. Recognizing this art thang as a means to get the attention he was otherwise too shy to seek, he stuck with it despite not being very good. In high school, he was somehow talked into drawing an ongoing comic strip for his school magazine. With free reign in regards to content, and a school-wide audience, how could he possibly say no? Tragically, Possum Man only survived to his second adventure, before Humble grew weary of everyone asking, “What’s up with that guys hands?” Or “Did you mean to draw her face like that?”. From there it was straight out of high school and off to university to start a Bachelor of Arts. He flunked out within his first two years, after coming to the enlightened conclusion that getting stoned all day might actually be a viable career path.

The Western Digital My Book Elite has a user customizable display so you can easily see which drive is which. It also displays available space on the drive. This is very useful as I am starting to lose track of which drive is which on my external drive collection.

I bought this to mainly deal with the 7D's 25MB RAW file problem which eats up my 1TB internal drive way too quickly. I have now offloaded the sound libraries and backup tasks to it, while keeping my cloud backup for all media files on jungledisk.com (which uses Amazon S3 + is compatible on Windows, Mac and Linux)

For stuff that has constant change, I use my SVN server hosted on cvsdude.com and if I need to collaborate with anyone, I drop them to dropbox.com
