The Citroën SM is a high-performance coupé produced by the French manufacturer from 1970 to 1975. The SM was placed third in the 1971 European Car of the Year contest, trailing its stablemate Citroën GS, and won the 1972 Motor Trend Car of the Year award in the U.S.A. This 1973 Citroen SM, RPE 3L, is seen at Haynes Motor Museum.

The SM is a French classic with an Italian heart, because under the hood is a V6 engine from Maserati. I recently shared already a photo of this copy (one of the 12,920 copies built in total) when it left the InterClassics event. Here's a picture of the SM with license plates from the Soviet Union shining on the exhibition floor. You can read here the complete remarkable story of this Citroën.

This SM is in a quite neglected state. I doubt if it still is able to drive.

Rounding off a great week of spots is this ultra-rare Citroen SM. I spotted this exactly a year ago but missed the opportunity to photograph it.
