When the Wheatcroft family first came to SLS, they shared with us a desire to craft a home that maintained continuity with the land and preserved the beauty of their property. They also prioritized shaping their living space in a way that naturally kept their family together.
The original home, a three bedroom ranch with attached two car garage, accommodated their growing family at first; but as the kids grew, so did Mom and Dad’s desire for a little more space.
Together, we identified solutions and a plan. A great room connecting a modern, gourmet kitchen with the other living space created a way for the family to stay connected, play, and study while relaxing in a warm, open room.
We accommodated Mom and Dad’s desire for a sanctuary set apart from the activity of the household by adding a spacious master suite with a tile shower and large soaking tub.
SLS expanded the garage and used the space above it to add a third bedroom and a game room that already accommodates the pool table and will soon have a home theater. The garage now stores three cars and doubles as a usable work space for Dad’s hobbies.
Working together, SLS and the Wheatcroft family created a home that meets the family’s goals of increased space for everyone, an open floor plan that encourages family togetherness, and a design that fits in with the landscape.

Meet the remodeler Steve Stolze
Our Tour of Remodeled Homes clients were looking to update their 1980’s home, by enlarging the existing cramped kitchen space, and creating entertainment areas.
SLS moved the rear wall of the house 7 feet into the rear yard. We expanded the hardwood flooring, installed new distressed Alder cabinets, counter tops, lighting and appliances to finish a gourmet kitchen.
The recreation room for entertainment and social events, was added to the rear of the existing dining room and kitchen addition.
The goal of an updated kitchen, added entertainment area, was accomplished on budget, in 15 weeks.
