They always say guilt has a look.
Maybe it’s in the eyes... the flicker of recognition when someone finally sees through you. Or maybe it’s the way your pulse betrays you before your lips ever do. Either way, I must’ve given myself away tonight.
The lights were too low, the bass too heavy, and the smoke hung thick like secrets we weren’t supposed to share. I’d been dancing with trouble for hours, not metaphorically, either. Leather jacket, badge, and that grin that says I know what you did but I’m not sure I want to stop you.
When his hand found my wrist, I didn’t flinch.

Because maybe I did.
Maybe I’m the one who gets off on being found. Maybe I wear my crimes like perfume, something sweet enough to make you forget what it’s covering.
I didn’t resist when he leaned in, his breath close enough to smell the sin in it. My heartbeat echoed the siren outside, red and blue flashing across the walls like a pulse we both shared.
“You caught me, officer,” I whispered, half confession, half invitation.
And in that moment, I wasn’t sure which of us was really under arrest.
