I didn’t plan on going. I didn’t even know where there was. Just desert on every horizon and the sound of something distant...metal clashing, drums pounding, voices howling. Then she appeared through the haze like a hallucination dressed in fishnet and smoke. Boots torn. Lips cracked. Collar tight around her neck like a promise she didn’t intend to break.

She didn’t ask. Just smiled. Held out a gloved hand like it was the most natural thing in the world and said, “You coming or what? It’s Wasteland Weekend, baby. No laws, no limits; just dust, fire, and freedom.”

And gods help me, I took it.

We walked into the chaos together. Roaring rigs, bone-fires, bodies painted in rust and sweat. Everyone looked like a warlord or a prophet or a beautiful, broken thing that refused to die quiet. The air reeked of gasoline and glory. People danced like it would bring the world back. Or maybe like they were the reason it ended.

This wasn’t a festival. It was a fever dream with a heartbeat.

And I haven’t been clean since.
