I climbed up first.
The wood creaked softly under my steps, the kind of quiet sound that feels louder when everything else is still. The air up there was different… lighter, softer, like the world couldn’t quite reach that high. I dropped onto one of the cushions, tucking my legs under me, watching the waterfall spill endlessly down the rocks like it had nowhere else to be.
For a minute… it really was peaceful.
Then I heard it.
That soft click.
I turned, leaning over the edge just enough to see the glow below colors shifting, pieces falling into place one after another. You didn’t even say anything, just gave me that look like you already knew I was coming down.
“Just one round,” you said.
I should’ve known better.
The first piece dropped with a quiet snap into place. Then another. Then another. The board started filling, colors stacking, lines forming… almost, but not quite. I leaned in closer without realizing it, eyes tracking every move, already trying to plan three steps ahead.
“You’re not paying attention,” you said, way too casually.
I narrowed my eyes.
“Oh, I am now.”
One move.
Two.
Three—
“You’re cheating.”
“I’m winning.”
And suddenly it wasn’t quiet anymore.
It was laughter, accusations, “wait wait wait—no—” and that stubborn determination to not lose, even if it meant dragging the game out longer than it should’ve been. The soft glow of the board reflected off everything around us, turning something simple into something that felt… a little too serious for a “just one round.”
I don’t even remember who actually won.
I just remember not wanting to stop.

There are some places you probably shouldn’t wander into alone...
But where’s the fun in listening to warnings? 👻
Tonight, I found myself slipping through the twists and turns of a haunted maze, where every corner seemed a little darker than the last. The deeper I wandered, the more I started to realize I definitely wasn’t alone.
Standing watch in the shadows was UTD: The Watchman from Uptown Divas Designs. Silent, creepy, and looking entirely too comfortable waiting there for me, he probably should have been my first sign to turn around.
Naturally... I kept going. 😂
Further inside, I stumbled across the Cracked Pilgrim from Chaotic Pixi Emporium. At this point, the maze was getting darker, the path was getting stranger, and my confidence in this little adventure was disappearing FAST.
Then came the Khargo Halloween Sunflower Scarecrow from Khargo Halloween. 🌻🎃
Sunflowers are supposed to be happy.
This one apparently did not get the memo.
Still, there was only one way out—forward.
And somewhere deeper in the maze, the cute Halloween adventure officially ended.
Because waiting in the swamp was [GE]_Swamp_Monster_v1 from Gadget's Emporium.
Yeah...
NOPE. 😂👹
