Another look at my favorite little ghost town and what used to be the "General Store". The shelves may indeed be empty, but I'm sure there are many memories within...and maybe a few ghosts....
Not the only isle, or the only store! Interestingly, the stores are spreading out what stock they have on shelves to fill in the space so it does not look as dire. We all know the story about the ga$ price$!
Welcome to the Divided States of America
As ice breaks away and new layers are formed over the water, ice is pushed up to the shore line producing ice shelves

Colder temperatures and strong winds have made a significant impact along the western shore of Lake Michigan. These ice shelves are here to stay for a while.

Jerry is almost finished with shelves that display some of my favorite toys. The wood for the facing and drawer fronts came from a cherry tree we had milled in our front yard. The sides of the drawers, yellow popular, are from a tree that grew on Albany Rd. also milled in our front yard. The bottoms of the drawers are made of cedar from a farm tree in Corydon, Ind.
Awesome morning at Lake Michigan. Arrived about 5:30 a.m. still pitch black, finished a cup of coffee and slid on a pair of rubber boot spikes waiting for the first sign of light. Fifteen minutes later I grabbed my kit and tripod and headed down to the lake. The lake seems much lower than the last few years and the ice shelves smaller. This was the first shot of the morning. To get the full sky I had to include the steel water breaker. I have a few more different compositions to look over and possibly post. Love my Sony a7r but hate how fast the batteries drain, especially in the cold. I even had the spare battery in my pocket with the hand warmer but both died quickly.
A few days ago I ventured over to Deland Park to see what ice shelves had developed along Lake Michigan's western shore. There have been more productive growths in the past, but I found these interesting.

Shaun Says "These Shelves are For Books"
I say "Adorable Nonsense improves all Shelves"
Hahah That might be a LOT of Nonsense.
These big-time library shelves roll with the touch (push) of a hand-crank and allow storage of more books per foot!

Along the rivers edge you better be paying attention where you walk. Ice shelves can jut out 10 feet or more over the rivers surface creating a "false edge." Recent ice jams had raised the river levels. Frigid temps then froze it solid. As the river level dropped again, the ice stayed in place. Makes walking around down there exciting! LOL!
Hubby surprised me by putting up more shelves in my playroom while I was asleep. He put all this stuff up because it was on the floor and I have a sore knee and back. None of it is where I want it but I'm still happy! Lol.
These pumpkins were for sale at a local pumpkin patch just in time for Halloween carving. I liked the symmetry and mix of orange and green.
