Turó de la Seu Vella
El Turó de la Seu Vella (també anomenat Turó de Lleida i a l'antiguitat Roca Sobirana) és un turó que s’aixeca al centre de la ciutat de Lleida. Està situat al centre de la ciutat de Lleida, és la part més elevada de la ciutat dominant tota la Plana del Segre. Està rodejat pel centre històric de la ciutat, que antigament poblava també el turó però degut a la Guerra dels Segadors i la Guerra de Successió es va anar despoblant per a construir-hi una ciutadella i allotjar una caserna militar.
Sobre aquest es troba un conjunt monumental que comprèn l’edifici de la Seu Vella, la Canonja, el Castell del Rei o La Suda, els Pous de gel i les muralles amb diversos baluards que l’envolten.
El turó, format per una antiga terrassa fluvial ha representat un emplaçament estratègic amb bones capacitats defensives perquè s’hi establís la ciutat. L’altre turó estratègic de la ciutat és el turó de Gardeny, on s’ubica un castell de l’orde templari construït a la segona meitat del segle XII.
L'accés principal al turó és la porta del Lleó, una porta orientada a ponent, també hi ha el portal de Sant Andreu. També es pot accedir al turó per l’ascensor del Canyeret, situat al sud-est del turó i que el connecta amb el carrer del Canyeret on es troben els jutjats. L’últim accés són unes escales de fusta situades al vessant nord del turó i que voregen els Pous de gel. Amb transport públic es pot accedir mitjançant la línia 12 d’autobusos urbans que circula de dilluns a dissabte de dos quarts de vuit del matí a les nou del vespre.

The theory of his Leonese origin is reinforced by the close relationship of King Alfonso VI and his descendants with the Counts of Urgel, as well as that of the Castilian count Pedro Ansúrez, who ruled Urgel on the death of his son-in-law Armengol V (1082-1102), during the minority of his grandson Armengol VI. This relationship may explain the donation of the manuscript to the cathedral that there was reconstructing in Romanesque style at that time.
This manuscript, which had been kept in the Cathedral of the Seo de Urgell for almost a thousand years, was stolen on September 29, 1996 from its Diocesan Museum and recovered almost completely -only one folio is missing- on January 21, 1997.

While in the previous Blesseds of the series the importance of the line and a special attention to facial expression is already observed, in this one the schematization is carried to the limit, focusing the iconographic interest in the parallel lines that reinforce the sensation of slenderness of the figures, producing a strange visual effect, not without a very special beauty, in compositions of an absolutely flat character.
In addition, within the manuscript itself there is also a mutation, since in the first 79 illustrations, which correspond to the genealogies and the Commentaries of the Apocalypse, the style of Magius is maintained, presenting the figures on colored backgrounds in bands of irregular thickness in bright tones, the second part, dedicated to the book of Daniel, is very different, with the figures painted directlyLa nueva Jerusalén on the parchment in which the slenderness and verticality of the figures are even more evident.

In summary, the Beato de Seo de Urgel is an atypical and very original intermediate link within a family of copies of the Commentary to the Apocalypse -the IIa- that forms the most important set of manuscripts of the Spanish early medieval miniature. In fact, this family, which begins by Magius with the Blessed of San Miguel de Escalada, continues in that of Valcavado and in that of Urgel, the three Mozarabs created in the second half of the tenth century in the Leonese environment, continues more than fifty years later in that of Ferdinand I and Sancha, also in León but in a style that begins to glimpse the transition to Romanesque and, in the twelfth century in two other works, in this case produced in the environment of Burgos and already completely Romanesque, the Blesseds of Silos and Navarre.
