This waterfall has been on my 'bucket list' for years, mainly due to my addiction to landscape photography YouTube channels.
The majesty of Skogafoss hit me as soon as I pulled up in the car park with my family - it is a stunning force of nature. I could have stayed for hours, absorbing the energy of the place, but for the constant appearance of bus loads of selfie-takers.
Now - I am far from perfect in this. I came to this place not only to experience its spectacle but also with the hope of leaving with a portfolio shot. I wanted to capture and claim its art and power for myself. But selfie takers are something else. They arrive and, presented with this heart-stopping, soul reviving scene, decide that the best thing to do is take a picture of themselves... sometimes dressed up in evening wear... quite often partially naked.
The outcome? Looking back on my visit, I can close my eyes and feel the power of Skogafoss. But I also feel a sadness for humankind. What is it that makes us assume we are the most important thing around when faced with such majesty?
Rant over (until I post again!).

I mean the pants...lol....not so long ago you wouldn't have found me wearing these puppies......black leather or nothing...ah but life is good.... 8-)

It intrigues me to see people taking pictures of themselves. I'm beginning to think that I'd like to have their enthusiasm to appear in front of the lens. So far, I just don't.
Asakusa is one of the few traditional quarters left in Tokyo, and one of the most popular sightseeing areas in the city. Tourists flock to Asakusa to see the Sensō-ji, Tokyo's most famous Buddhist temple. For many visitors, Asakusa is also a place where they can experience getting dressed in a kimono. There are different shops in the area where people can rent a kimono. These two young ladies were certainly enjoying their time wearing the traditional and colorful kimonos and browsing the selfies they captured with the special attire.
