Roanoke-bound tonnage departs the interchange yard at Hagerstown, Maryland. Located at the northern end of Norfolk & Western’s Shenandoah Valley line, the yard was known as Vardo Yard, while I have always referred to it as Shomo Yard, which was the PRR/PC/Conrail designation.

The Steamtown excursion boarding platform is seen at left and is interestingly situated between two active D-L freight lines (the Pocono Main and Laurel Line).
