Believe in your dreams. Believe in today. Believe that you are loved. Believe that you make a difference. Believe we can build a better world. Believe when others might not. Believe there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Believe that you might be that light for someone else. Believe that the best is yet to be. Believe in each other. Believe in yourself. I believe in you.

Following an appointment with the Long Covid Clinic I can officially report that, yes, I have Long Covid. There is no definitive test yet but my symptoms are indicative of Long Covid and in addition I am told that my symptoms also indicate Covid induced dysautonomia. That means damage to my autonomic nervous system responsible for controlling blood pressure and heart rate, etc.

Just one mild acute infection that I caught from my ex-partner in 2023 has caused life-limiting disease.

There are now plenty of studies that show that even asymptomatic acute Covid infections result in permanent damage to the brain, cardiovascular system and immunity. Everyone that has had Covid is harmed even if they think they are fully recovered.

I'm pleased to see that the woman in this shot is wearing an FFP2 respirator mask. Sadly the man is just wearing a surgical mask that does nothing to prevent or protect from the spread of airborne infection such as Covid or the flu. Public health education has failed us.

Nothing can be done for my Long Covid by the way. There is no cure. There are no treatments (although HIV retroviral drugs are showing promise in a few trials around the world). My 'treatment plan' will involve advice on how to plan, prepare and pace myself to manage my symptoms. Things that I am already forced into doing just to manage day-to-day living.

Protect yourselves my Flickr friends. It's not too late. The damage from each infection is cumulative. Your health is precious.

Take care my friends.

DSLR selfie captured in September 2024.

Yesterday, not far from home, a guy drove past me and, leaning out of his window, shouted "weirdo" because he saw me wearing a 3M Aura respirator face mask.

Yes, it affected me a little, but that is because I am a 'highly sensitive person' and have CPTSD with a history of having been bullied and abused but, honestly, I call myself that and worse from time to time and I have been called far worse by other people.

Mostly I felt sadness and pity. That public health messaging, and in his case, education itself, has failed.

I do not mask because I am anxious. I do not mask because I am afraid of Covid-19. I mask because I understand airborne infection processes, have read too many reputable peer-reviewed papers on the damages of Covid-19 and because I have a baseline that I need to protect.

I have already suffered permanent damage and disability from a single Covid infection two years ago. I live alone, have nobody to care for me, and already have a disability baseline that I need to protect. I can't afford to be more ill or more disabled. I am not afraid of Covid. I am, understandably, afraid of losing the baseline of health that I have right now. I protect that.

Droplet dogma permeates our health institutions and they are reluctant and are politically pushed to ignore airborne infection despite nosocomial Covid and Flu being a major issue that is killing many vulnerable people every week. It's an Ignaz Semmelweis situation all over again. I guess change takes time.

It doesn't have to be that way. We can have clean air. Our immune system is not a muscle that needs to be trained by viral infections - viruses do damage, always.

In the absence of clean indoor air with adequate ventilation, HEPA filtration and high UVC treatment, the only protection from airborne disease is FFP2/3 (N95/99) respirator masks. They work. Surgical and cloth masks do not work.

I have had just one infection since the end of 2019. How many times have you or your family and friends been sick? Was that normal before the pandemic?

It was normal to have maybe one or two simple colds each year, ones that were uncomfortable for a few days. Maybe, once every 20 years you would get influenza and be bedbound feeling like you are dying for a week or so.

Now people are much more ill with each infection and are ill far more often. Covid-19 did this. It damages the immune system in a similar way to HIV. In fact, in many countries HIV drugs are being used and trialled to treat Covid and Long Covid now.

I prefer not to be sick. I have always been a square peg in a round hole too so I don't mind standing out if it keeps me safe and well.

I think we need to stop the normalising of spreading our respiratory diseases to others. We have the tools and technology to stop the suffering. Demand clean indoor air. We cleaned our drinking water to stop Cholera. Why would you not want to stop the spread of Covid-19, influenza, RSV, TB, Measles and more?

Food for thought.

I wanted to share because public health messaging has failed us. Knowledge is power.

I don't really care if you or anyone else thinks that I am weird. Especially when I have just stepped off a bus full of people coughing their lungs up.

Es ist schön, euch alle hier zu sehn;

an unsre gemeinsame Zeit.

In euren Herzen lebe ich weiter,

hinterließ diese Zeilen euch zum Geleit.

Mir geht's jetzt gut,

ich bin dankbar für alles;

Hab mein Leben gelebt,

geliebt und gelitten,

bekommen, verloren,

genommen, gegeben,

Mir geht's jetzt gut,

ich bin dankbar für alles;

besucht mich hier an meinem Stein.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Corona victims and their families. Wearing a mask will save lives and enable our freedom. Those in denial have no respect for others including those close to them.
