Southern Railway four wheeled parcels and miscellaneous van (PMV) S1706S stands in the yard at Quorn, 1st November 2008.

 

Vehicle History

S1706S is one of a batch of thirty seven PMV’s built at Lancing to Lot 1659 in 1943. The vehicle lasted in service to around 1980 before entering preservation arriving on the Great Central Railway in 1984. It is fitted out internally as a P Way Mess Van and forms part of the PWay engineers train.
